I just picked up a new digital SLR camera today and can't wait to learn how to use it.
I am going "lighthouse hunting" this weekend in NY and will bring it out for a test run.

Of course I will have my old "point and shoot" digital camera as well for insurance but I really can't wait to see what kind of pics this new one can do. laugh

Oooh! Which one? I'm looking at them...want to know what you got/what you think.

What lenses did you get?

I got the Nikon D80 with a 18-135mm lens. I wanted a camera that I can grow with that also takes different lenses for different purposes. This one comes with a pretty universal lens to start with and I will go from there.

Here is an example of one at Circuit City

Lots of online controls and so far very easy to use...it has an automatic setting too!

You are wise to carry a second camera. Things can happen and having a back up is always a great idea, just in case.
