Of interest to local lighthouse enthusiasts will be "The Field Guide to the Lighthouses of the New England Coast" by Elinor DeWire (Voyageur Press, 192-page softcover, $19.95).

The illustrated book includes entries on Butler Flats, Palmers Island, and Clarks Point (Fort Taber) lighthouses in New Bedford, Ned's Point in Mattapoisett, and Cleveland East Ledge in Bourne, among the 150 profiles.

The author lives in Seabeck, Wash., and has been researching and photographing lighthouses for more than 25 years. Her earlier books cover lighthouses of the Pacific Coast, South, and Mid-Atlantic.
