While researching for our trip I found a good book. THE LIGHTHOUSES OF IRELAND by Richard M. Taylor. The book has so much history in it, then modern info. He uses memories at the lights to bring things to life. Maybe I am impressed because I am new, but I don't think so. History to signal(light character) it is well worth your time.

Thanks for the insight, Nancy. Some of the members here have extensive libraries of lighthouse books and are always looking for good additions.

One of the books I used when in Ireland was "An Eagle's View of Irish Lighthouses" by John Eagle. You can get it on line and it gives pictures and directions.

On amizon, used, the book started at $47.00 plus shipping, on the authors site with shipping it was less than $33.00. No idea how long to get to Calif.

He was nice enough to enclude one with the book "To Laura and Nancy I hope you enjoy my book and have a great time over here in Ireland." Inishtearaght, a great shot of an island rock light. My husband had requested the book signed which he did. Laura and I will be looking into a photo tour he offers on his website. Part of the dreams in planning.
