The correct term is 'Moderator' and here we call them 'Cruise Director' - an individual who monitors one forum and keeps things moving smoothly, helping to answer questions there, moving topics elsewhere that are off-topic, stimulating postings by asking questions or starting threads.
Some Forums may require special knowledge on the topic. Most just require a willingness to check in quite often and be a WACKO (50 posts or more).
