I love it that this forum has a light built for its members. That's fantastic. Since there are so few made, does one have to get on a list to get one? I'm just curious about what the process is to get one of the lights? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm sure this is a question that has been asked before, and I'm sorry for being repetitive. I'm just wanting to know how it works so I can make sure to get one once it's released.

When all is set and we are ready to take orders we will open up for business. What we did last time was ask for a deposit of 50% at the time you ordered. The balance would be due closer to when we expected to have them in hand.

Billy - In fact if you want I'm sure we could arrange to sell you 2, 3, 4 or more with no problem

That's funny. Three or four might be pushing my budget. smile

But in actuality, I will be buying one for myself and possibly another one as a gift for someone else, so you might get a couple out of me.

I was just scared that with such a small number being produced they would be scooped up really quick.

Billy, we hope they get scooped uo quickly but experience tells us we should have enough. Just check in periodically to be sure you know when the sale sign is put in the front yard.

The difference between us having 500 forum exclusive LE’s to sell and Harbour lights having 500 of their regular limited edition to sell is this.
Harbour lights would have to spread the 500 to their dealers. It would instantly retire. At that time you could not order anymore from HL.
Each dealer would only get a few to sell, some dealers would get none. Most dealers would instantly sell them with auto shipments and word of mouth to their customers. Panic would start with collectors, that they may miss the boat and many would begin searching. A demand would start and the price would rise relatively quickly. Some collectors seeing the increase in value may see opportunities to buy extras. This again adds to the increase of its value. This scenario is what happened to the White Mac. Many collectors never even had a chance to buy it retail. The small production of 500 instantly got absorbed into the menagerie of HL dealers and many collectors had to pay two to three times the retail to get one.

The forum exclusive on the other hand is offered from one source, this forum. If we follow the same path as the ELL, the exclusive will be offered to all forum members first. Only being one outlet, it takes longer to deplete the 500. The Erie Land light took a little over a year to sell out the complete batch. The limited lighthouse depot’s Halfway rock took closer to two years.

So with this in mind there is no hurry to order, right?

No way buddy!!

First of all, if every thing is done the same as the Ell was handled the more valuable double-digit lights will get bought up first. The Double digits generally have a higher secondary market value, and this exclusive may be the only way some collectors will have a chance at a double digit.
The other thing is that we have the list of all that have bought the 490 Erie Land Light.
There is nothing like having our hands on 490 sales. With all this in mind plus and with some inside information I can not discuss, I expect this one to sell out way before the time ELL did.

I am going to put myself on the line. This is totally my prediction. I feel that this time the Forum exclusive will be depleted within 1 to 3 months. Three months only being because of it being sold in phases like we did the ELL.

The good news is that those that watch the forums delinquently should have no problem getting one or even two.

Looking forward to seeing the drawing(s) for the light that is chosen.

At what point can we place our orders? Will we know what number we are getting at the time our order is placed?

I was wondering if it would be possible for us to purchase a specfic number for a fee. I would really like to get the same numbered piece as I have with the ELL piece.

I can answer both of the questions about the number you will get.
1) You will not know the number you will get until the initial drawing takes place. The initial drawing will take place after a certain time period to allow all of the Forum Members that are interested in getting a low number through the chance of a draw to get their low number.
2) If you have a higher number that you want and it is still available after the initial drawing(eg. initial drawing has 100 members that bought 150 exclusives), then anything over this initial 150-160 pieces will still be available to buy. You may then be able to trade your lower number for your number or possibly convince Dave to sell you your higher number. There is NO RESERVING a specific number.

I have #142 ELL. So lets say I draw # 125 in the next exclusive lighthouse. I would have to find out who has #142 and see if they would trade. There is a good chance that they will want a financial incentive to trade or some form of compensation. I would rather give the money to this organization than to some individual whom I do not know. I know that with the Pottwatomie limted edtion LLOM there was a charge of $15 for the option of selecting your desired piece. This would allow those members who bought the ELL piece a chance to have the matching piece of the new exclusive. At the same time it would allow the Collectors Forums an oppurtunity to raise more funds. Those who did not want to pay the $15 extra would get a random # piece from the numbers left over. This pieces would still fall in the top 150.

It was a decision that was made with the ELL that buyers would not be able to get their autoship numbers or reserve a number of their choice. This decision was made to keep everything fair and square for both old members and new members. What if someone wanted their autoship number and it was the same number that you wanted? Who should have the right to that number? That's why the drawing was decided upon. The only way for you to get your number is through the luck of the draw or trading for it from the person who won it. This was decided on by the committe as the fairest to all. Another way to look at it is one of the Forum Members was lucky enough to get #1 through the draw. Is it fair to the others that he/she pays an additional $15 to get this #1? Most of the members would be quite upset with that especially since we all would like a #1 in out collection.

I like the drawing aspect of the CF Lights but if mine turns out to be #142, Zandar, it's a trade!

I understand your point. The drawing seems more than fair. Who knows maybe I will be lucky enough to draw a low number this time.

Looking forward to this year's CF piece. The number I recieve is not important. Some of my HL's are double digits and others triple. They all bring me great pleasure.

JohnC said in another thread that it would be 2 to 3 weeks before they announce the name of the lighthouse to us.

This Wednesday would be 3 weeks. laugh

We're rolling ahead with a choice by Harbour Lights - we've seen the drawings Harry did, but we're still waiting on the price quote from the factory to be certain it fits our target budget.

We don't want to announce the light and then be disappointed that we can't bring it in on budget and have to make a second choice.

We should have a price within this week, I hope.

That's great news for all the members of the CF. I know they will be pleased when they find out the name of the light being honored as the 2nd CF Exclusive. Let's keep our fingers crossed that Harbour Lights can work a little magic and keep our choice affordable. This piece will make a great addition to our collections.

Hopefully, it won't be much longer. The committee is just waiting for Harbour Light's response to the pricing, etc. I think all our faithful collectors will be very pleased with the end result.
