This was posted in October in another thread. Anybody know why it's going to be 723 (the 7XX series are the Christmas pieces)? Would think it should be 693 to follow Erie Land Light which is 692.

Just ordered mine but I couldn't pay via paypal. When I was taken to the order confirmation screen the page froze and never loaded. I had to close out so I guess I will be sending in a check.

How are the numbers determined? Are these done at random or in the order they are processed?

BeaconBob - we'll take all the orders received by March 31. Let's say 250 are sold by then. We'll take the first 255 (#2-6 are reserved for future drawings) and we'll randomly match the order with a number from from #1, then #7-#255 with each of those orders.

Everyone who orders between now and March 31 will have an equal chance of getting #1 and so on. No numbers will be announce before shipping (or after, for that matter). It will be up to the winners to post what they got.

Items purchased after March 31 will be given out in order from wherever we are (#256 in the example above) to the end.

Not to totally change the subject, but one of our first Collector Forum Exclusives, Erie Land Light that sold for $50, is now on eBay with a day to go in the auction and the bid is up to $150! I think that is a good indicator of the collectibility and value of our initial Collector Forum Exclusive.

I bet our second Collector Forum Exclusive, the upcoming Wisconsin Point, will be just as valuable in the future. These very special pieces with the edition size of 500 are worth the money and more. I have three ELL's and I'm planning on purchasing at least two WP's. Some day the extras will pay off on the secondary market. It's always nice to have something that's worth much more than you paid for it!

The ELL, our first CF Exclusive, on eBay with 23 hours to go is now at $292.00. Now that should inspire a few people to stop and think about ordering the second CF Exclusive!

I think $292.00 is totally unrealistic! This is probably due to a crazy "bidding" war.....

I disagree that this is not a realistic price. Yes it was a bidding war, but that is what happens when there is a rare lighthouse up for bid.

The last time I saw the ELL on Ebay was back in August of last year and it went for around $230. There was one that just went for $150 but it was purchased by the “BUY IT NOW” which does not give us the actual value. The Cheboygan Crib and the Waugoshance continuously goes on Ebay from the $200’s to $300 and at least once both of them have even reached the $400s. Both of these reunion lights can be used as a guide of what we can expect with the ELL values. The ELL on ebay was a three digit, Just think what it might have gone for if it was a double digit, like so many of you were able to get.

I consider the Cheboygan Crib, Waugoshance and the Erie Land Light the Hottest limited editions of these times. They surpass any of the earlier reunion in their secondary market and at this time I do not see any reason why they won’t continue to be the most valuable Limited edition made by Harbour Lights. They are even giving Bailey’s Harbor a run for the money. I am not comparing them to Gold events or any of the rare variations, but only actual full run Limited editions that could be purchased.

When the “Forum exclusive lighthouse” team came up with The Limited Edition of 500 its main reason was to give the forum members and fellow collector a rare lighthouse for retail. It was designed to be rare and so is our next exclusive the Wisconsin Point WI.
The Wisconsin Point is a larger and more popular than the ELL and I expect it to also have a strong secondary market, probally even better than the ELL.

I am glad I have already ordered my Wisconsin Point WI CF Exclusive. I will have a great looking piece, and will not have to try and get it later on the secondary market.

Let see what the average price of the next four or five ELL's sell for. That should tell us what she's worth.

I think it is a somewhat realistic price. If you consider that approximately 200 Forum members bought an ELL for their own collection and of these 200 members probably 25-50 bought an extra piece for speculation and the rest were sold to non-Forum members. Of the 300 sold to non-Forum members if 25-50 of these were bought for speculation we are talking about 50-100 that at some time or another should appear on EBAY. That's a pretty small chunk out of a small chunk(500) and they should bring a tidy sum as long as the market is there.

Getting back to the Wisconsin Point CF Exclusive, anybody have an update?

I expect it will be a while before we have any shipping information. The pieces have to be completed and then wait until an entire container is filled. Still hoping it is here by early summer.

Dave- I've been looking for someone to answer Sandy's question about the WP # she posted on this thread back on 1-1-08. Haven't seen an answer, so I was wondering if you could answer it?

I believe I answered it in one of the other threads, Max. My speculation is they are running out of 600 series numbers and have more than enough 700 numbers to handle Christmas pieces into the next century (well, almost). I might have left a gap of a dozen or so numbers so the Christmas pieces would be in sequence, but this would have caused even more "discussion". Seems like a logical approach for HL to use so they don't have to go to 4 digit series numbers yet. After all, Christmas pieces could be considered to be special releases.

This is all just speculation on my part as I am not privy to the decision making. However, it makes sense to me......

Dave's right, Tony gave the reason why he picked 723 in another thread.

If I remember correctly, he made the choice and since 699 was used for Barking Rocks, he was given two options 723 or 559.

As for 693, that was 2006's In Store piece, El Morro.

I feel this is a great goal! But, was there any concern and discussion that with ELL selling at such higher prices it might be wise to set a limit on the number of WP pieces that could be purchased? A limit or some other means might discourage large quanity speculation that could negatively affect some collectors,especially those who didn't order immediately for various reasons. Just wondering with ELL up to $292.00.

Max, our primary goal has to be to sell out the edition run. When we began to sell the ELL, we did limit the number any one person could purchase and initially required that the person be a CF member. While this was a noble intention, it was not a practical one. If we didn't sell the product we couldn't pay the bills. So, the restrictions were lifted and we were able to sell out the run.

While there is always a concern on someone trying to corner the market, isn't that what makes the secondary market and makes the piece keep its value or increase in value? Going on memory, there were only a handful of people who purchased more than 2 ELLs. Lots of folks did purchase 2, but that is not all that unusual when there is a special piece available.

With all that said, someone wants to buy in reallllllly large quantity, feel free to drop me a note.....

One week from today is the date to beat if you want to be included in the drawing for the #1 piece, as well as all those other single and double digits. Having seen the paint sample piece, this will be a really great addition to your collection. The detail is very well done, the flag is unique, the area around the flag gives you a neat glimpse of what the inside of the breakwater would look like, and the size is perfect - not too big. Don't think you can lose with this one in your collection!

Wisconsin Point looks great in the pictures, but I can't wait to get mine in my hot little hands and really check it out.

It took a while for my checkbook to recover from Christmas (LOL) but I FINALLY got mine ordered today....just barely in time, as well.

My mail lady delivered my WI Point CF Exclusive today--NUMBER 1--Yes,I couldn't believe it!

When I saw the box I said to myself that I didn't realize that Dave had started shipping them out. Well, I realized why I got it so soon when I saw it was THE winner and definitely a keeper. Maybe Dave will be shipping out other low number winners to some other lucky CF members soon.

The first 10 or so of the Wisconsin Point pieces arrived a few weeks ago at HL which forwarded them on to Dave.

And so when the drawing was conducted to match the numbered pieces with those who had ordered by March 30, it was possible to have the top winner (#1) receive his/her piece first.

All others will have to wait until the container arrives in Maine -- which should happen in May.

The edition of 500 is over half-sold out as of now.

Congratulations to Max who has managed to defy all odds by winning the Participate and Post contest for March as well. Hope you've been buying lottery tickets, Max.

When it comes to rarity and value the #1 is the most rare and valuable of all limited Editions, even more than the Artist Proofs. There may be 12 to 15 for the Younger limited editions and I believe it is now around 4 or 5 for the Don Devine Limited editions. And there is only one #1. You will have the most valuable WP exclusive except for the paint sample of course.

I haven't been this lucky for several years now. I'd better start buying lottery tickets now for awhile although the odds of winning are usually much worse.

There are actually 12 WP pieces in the country. The #7 & 8 pieces are currently in the mail to those lucky folks. Hopefully they will post and share their winnings. I can say that one of the recipients is a little tied up with other matters at the present time. One is a long time member, but doesn't post too often. The pair that should have arrived today, one person is not a member, the other has posted but not too much. Mailed out the last pair today, they should arrive at their new homes on Friday. One of those folks is definitely a member and the other is not a member.

Stan, a large number of people who purchased ELLs were not CF members. It would not have been fair to keep them from having the opportunity to obtain a low number since that had supported our previous projects.

Although there wasn't anything in my mail today either, I will admit that it's a lot of fun getting them this way. It's nice to have the anticipation of coming home from work and the "what if" of a package possibly waiting in the mail.

Dave, No problem here, it was just me confused with who was able to purchase before and after 3/31. I just want to see every piece sold!!!

Well you can imagine my surprise when I arrived home on Friday after work and Patti asked me "were you expecting something from Dave Hannum?" and low and behold there's a little box there containing Wisconsin Point #11! What a great little piece and perfect size!. Another great job by Harbour Lights! Needless to say it's resting comfortably on display now.

I also heard from the person who received the #7 piece (not a CF member) who was also surprised and excited to have their piece.

If you have not ordered your piece yet, you are missing out on a really great HL.

So now that we know #7, #8, #11 were received, what about #9, #10 & # 12? Any hints as to who the luck recipients were?

Hilari, my policy is to not identify people or the numbers they receive. Some prefer to keep that to themselves, which I respect. Of course, it is always our hope that folks who receive the lowest numbers will share their excitement at receiving them.

Of the three pieces remaining to be identified, one is a CF member who does not post too often, the other two are not members.

I'm usually not this lucky. That's why I usually put one of my daughter names in drawings. They seem to have more of a lucky streak at least when it comes to Harbour Lights events.

This one is really special to me to say the least.
