This is a story published on the USCG 5th District's News site about the modern day keeper and his love for his work at the life saving station, Chicamacomico in Rodanthe, NC. James Charlet is a USCG Auxiliarist and former history instructor who feels his work at Chicamacomico Life Saving Station is his "dream job". Please read more about this interesting man and his love for the Chicamacomico LSS.  My photo of the 1874 station, one of two LSS's at Chicamacomico, where James Charlet teaches visitors about the US Life Saving Service. I purposely left in the modern day beach home for contrast. Great read...and I bet you didn't know that it talks about a CF member in the article. Erik's moniker on the CF is USCG Surfman.
I've had a few conversations with him. Great guy!

Thanks Bob! I appreciate the kind works.
The Life Saving Drills will be starting again in early summer, at the Chicamacomico Site in Rodanthe, NC. I will be losing much of my team due to regular transfers of my USCG personnel, so I will need to train up some new guys.
It is a great event, as well as the American Heroes Day in September.
I will do my best to keep everyone informed as we get closer to the summer.

Eric, it really is neat having you participate with us here. Please do keep us informed.
I still think I met you last Sept. on American Heroes Day. I'm a member there and worked the water concession part of the day when I wasn't watching the drills and taking a million pictures. I hope to attend again this year, and will definitely look you up.
