Now that we have figured out how to post photos, thanks to help from Dave Hannum, we have a few to show you from the Point Sur Ceremony. We, along with Derith Bennett, the awesome lighthouse tour leader who we will tell you more about later in another post on Piedras Blancas Light Station, and three friends from Florida, represented all of you who contributed to the fundraiser. The Point Sur folks were most appreciative of the Forum members' and Desert Lightkeepers' contribution of a prism for the lighthouse.

We were greeted at the gate and given a nice tour up to the light station. It was a beautiful day and we even observed whales close by.

Douglas Williams hosted the prism ceremony in the tower and Derith also spoke recognizing the Forum and Desert Lightkeepers.

This is how the prisms look installed in the lantern room floor viewed from underneath. As you can see not all the prisms are in place.

Here is the top view of the prisms from the lantern room.

Judy and Derith are showing with the replica where the actual prism will be located which is at the top of the stairs into the lantern room.

Bill gets his chance to put the prism in its place.

This is a close-up view of the replica. If you look closely the inscription reads, "PRISM NO. 181
PT. SUR LIGHTSTATION HARBOUR LIGHTS COLLECTOR FORUMS & DESERT LIGHTKEEPERS AUGUST 1, 1889."

Your delegation at the Point Sur Light Station:
Left to right: Linda Wise, Bill Newblom, Linda Terrell, Judy Newblom, Derith Bennett, Sharon Todd.

The volunteers had refreshments for us in the building that is the renovated barn. They were most gracious and hospitable. It was a super day and we were pleased to have been a part of this fundraiser. The replica is now proudly displayed in one of our curio cabinets along with our Harbour Lights and if you are out this way we will gladly show it to you!!

A little persistence pays off! Thanks so much for sharing these great pictures and writing up the "trip report" for us to be able to share in your adventure. While not as much fun as actually being there, it allows us all to 'virtually' make the trip with you!

Congratulations on a great start to sharing pictures and stories. We'll be looking for lots more in the coming months!

Congratulations to all who contributed to the Prism project and to Bill & Judy, the lucky winners of the replica prism.

We were well represented at the official installation!

Do I spot a WACKO badge on Judy in the picture of she and Derith "Judy and Derith are showing with the replica where the actual prism will be located which is at the top of the stairs into the lantern room."?

Great shots Bill & Judy! Looks like this was a great trip. smile

John, we got as close as we could with the lens we had at the lighthouse. We can get a better one now with the proper lens at home.

Mel, yes we had our WACKO badges thanks to Dave's speedy return once we ordered them. In fact, one of the volunteers took a photo of mine she was so impressed!

It was a great trip. Bill and I will be ready to make a photo presentation at our next CLCS meeting.

Nice pictures from the ceremony, Bill & Judy. Thank you so much for sharing them (and thanks to Dave, for his expertise in showing folks how to post pics. I know I have had to rely on him, John and others for help with this). I wish that I could have extended my trip to St. George Reef lighthouse with Derith & Company, so that I could have been there with you all, but that was not in the cards this time. Congratulations to all who were there, representing all of those who could not attend, at this wonderful lighthouse and event.

Hi Ron,

We missed you but Derith told us you had to go back. We'll post some photos soon of that part of the trip. See you and MJ at the Reunion.
