COMING December 1st on St. George Island, the restored lantern room. This is a bird cage style lantern room (rare these days). It will be on a wooden pedestal in the County Park in the middle of the island on the Gulf side of the island. This MAY be the same place the lighthouse will go when completely rebuilt.

So...they are making progress. That is good news!
If you are near there Eric, please snap a few pics for us to see.

I will make a trip back up there soon and I will take pictures. If I didn't have to work, I would stay up there and work the weekdays and come home the weekends.

That is very cool, indeed, Eric. And it is cool to see so many people come together to work on the education of others about the lighthouse while working steadily towards to restoration of Cape St. George lighthouse.

Putting up the last gutter. Each one weighs 154 pounds.

At this point many nuts were tighten and the top outside rails went up.




Believe it or not, it was cloudy when Susan and I arrived on the island, but it turned out to be a beautiful day in more ways than one.




This board was used to hold the winch that held the gutter pieces, the other end was attached to a tall ladder (which was also secured at that end).




Some of the holes in the deck for the long pieces had to be made a bit bigger.

These long white pieces will go inside the brick wall.
