Bob,

I can't make that one- i'll be boarding a slightly larger ship that day in Dover, England.

The NJLHS did this cruise last year and it was a great time except for one thing- the gangplank did not meet the dock and they improvised with a door that led to the stairs to the upper Deck.

Hopefully they'll have that problem fixed for your cruise.

The Cruise itself went very well- we had some great commentators for the info as we cruised around. the Captain got very close to most of the Lighthouses viewable on this cruise.

I highly reccomend it to anybody who hasn't done NY Harbor yet- or even somebody who has that wants to have a fun day with other LH Wackos.

Dennis you forgot to mention that we never got to Coney Island due to all the time lost trying to find a gangplank plus the delay caused by Homeland security allowing the boat to come to us. Other than tha it was a nice day.

Tom,

You can't expect me to mention everything- that wouldn't be fair to you and the others who like to helpful as well. laugh

I did say we got close to MOST of the lighthouses- obviously I meant to say coney Island was on ethat we didn't get close to- we did see it as we passed by at least.

And I spent most of that trip looking for Dennis to no avail. If he's going on the VA trip, I'll wear my UCONN hat--maybe then we won't be two ships passing. . . .

Sandy,

Unfortunately I won't be going on the VA trip. It's too close to my main trip this Summer and even though the cost is not that much it won't fit into the budget.

I will be at the Western LI Sound Cruise / NELL Meeting in June. Are you doing that one?

Sandy,

I stand corrected- I thought we had to stay a bit further out from Coney Island.

I should have checked my photos before answering.

See you in June. I'll be at Orient Point on Saturday 5-20 all day at at Old Field on Sunday 5-21 from 8-1 during the LI Lighthouse challenge so if you do that we may meet earlier.

Love those shots, Sandy! It'll be a while before I get to see that light. Love it that all of you share your pictures!

Almost forgot about reporting on this trip. We saw 3 lightships and 8 lighthouses( if you include SoL). We went to Montauk the next day so I kind of forgot to post. It turned out to be a nice day with occassional showers to cool off the day. The interior of the Sheryl Princess was air conditioned so it was quite comfortable. For our price of admission we got a continental breakfast, a drink at Frying Pan Lightship, and a buffet lunch. Seas were calm until we hit the ship channel on the way back, but that was only about a 15 minute bumpy ride. I'll post some photos when I get a chance.
