New England Lighthouse Tours: Lighthouses of Portsmouth & Portland motorcoach tour

Thursday, June 12, 2008, 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.


This trip includes a tour inside Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse in New Castle, New Hampshire. Participants are invited to climb the 44 stairs to the lantern to enjoy the magnificent view (incuding Whaleback Lighthouse) and to see the active Fresnel lens. Next stop is Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, one of the most breathtaking lighthouses in the U.S. Admission to the Museum at Portland Head Light in the former keepers' quarters is included. Lunch (included in ticket price) is by the water at Joe's Boathouse in South Portland. After lunch, we'll visit the unique Portland Breakwater Light and Spring Point Ledge Light. Adjacent to Spring Point Ledge Light is the Portland Harbor Museum (admission included) and gift shop. We'll then head back south for a shopping stop at Lighthouse Depot, the world's largest lighthouse gift store. Last but not least, we'll stop in York, Maine, to enjoy the picturesque Cape Neddick "Nubble" Light, one of the most photographed lighthouses in the world.

$89 for adults, $59 for children 12 and under. Tickets are available on this page, or you can call (603) 431-9155 to make a reservation. The tour leaves from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, near the downtown parking garage. You can leave your car in the garage all day for only 75¢ per hour.
