MD Lighthouse Challenge Takes One Year HiatusDue to the current Maryland budget issues, and its anticipated impact on event funding and sponsorship, coupled with volunteer staffing, the Challenge planning committee was compelled to make a difficult decision regarding a 2010 event.
With word that our New Jersey and Long Island counterparts had opted not to host 2010 events; and we would be losing our DOUBLE and TRIPLE Challenge incentives, the difficult decision was made that we would skip 2010 and look ahead to 2011.
The Maryland Lighthouse Challenge will be back – and better than ever – come 2011.
As always, if you have any thoughts, comments and/or suggestions regarding the Maryland Lighthouse Challenge, you can direct them to Karen Rosage, event chair at challenge@cheslights.org or by phone at (410) 437-0741.

I am sadden to hear this news, but with the current economy and everyone's budgets, it doesn't surprise me either.
My wife and I will deeply miss volunteering at the Cove Point lighthouse this year, as we look forward and enjoy this every year. However, we have faith that 2011 will be a better year for the return of the MD Lighthouse Challenge!
.... Perhaps a full size replica (LE) of the Blackistone, MD light will be made by Harbour Lights by then. (Psst.... Tony, Don, & Harry at Harbour Lights: Here is a great opportunity for you for the Fall of 2011)
