Should it be 220 Years? This is what I have been told:

Federalization of all lighthouses was created by Federal Law on August 7, 1789.
Since the Coast Guard can trace their heritage to that date, the Coast Guard is actually 220 years old, especially since they took over the Lighthouse Service.

Something to ponder.........

My best,
Paul

It might be something to ponder, but, officially it was August 4th, 1790 that we were born. Look at it this way, it takes a baby approximately 9 months to be born even though it was conceived 9 months earlier and we use the day the baby is born as it's birthday.
