I am addicted, BUT still more to HL & LH then ebay. I got my second ebay HL, MacQuairie, at a good price. I didn't tell Andrea. I hope she is not to mad, but she seems to understand this "lighthouse thing" Geez I haven't found a place for Navesink yet. I'm glad you guys are here, it's good to have somebody in the same boat.

Hi George,

I know what you are saying. I hardly mention it any more to my husband when I order new HLs. They are coming so fast & furious, he can't tell the difference.

The curio is jammed full with an extra shelf added. I put a board across the top of it and it is full too. The hutch in the dining room has more HLs than dishes. So the new ones just sneak in.

Pensacola is on its way thru the forums. Just sent M/O today for Round Island MI and Cape Lookout also thru the forums. Called a dealer for Concord & Sandy Pt. Shoals. Just missed on a Middle Bay and that is just this week!

I use my "mad money", B'days, X-mas, Superbowl pools etc. I save it so when I see a good buy or want to pick up more retired pieces I have it.

At least it is an addiction that I can afford.(Until I get to those rare early HLS!!)

When is the next meeting of the HLA? I believe I'm ready to make my confession to the world that I'm totally addicted!

Brent - should counseling be necessary outside normal meeting hours, the H.E.L.P. Swat Team (Harbour Emergency Lighthouse Professionals) is standing by, . Should you be looking at your checkbook and feel tempted to scream "Thar she blows!", please call our toll free number: 1-800-BUY-MORE. Highly trained phone personnel will assist you in extending your credit limit, or explaining to your family why they will be eating macaroni and cheese for the next two months. :-)

Rgds,

OK It's like this. I went home today for lunch. My wife is off today, I'm not bitter.
I tell her I need more money to bid on Cape Lookout, I gotta have a Cape Lookout right. I mean I can't face you guys unless I have a Cape Lookout. She says to me no more money for lighthouses, I need to get a suit. I don't get it. What's she talking about?

Hi QC - I think this is a classic case of the spouse who's not as interested as the addict. They seem to believe that food, clothes, reliable transportation and a solid roof over our heads is more important than HL's. I don't get it, either. I just accept it. Non-HL addicts are from Wal-Mart, addicts are from Wackodom.

I bet there's a good book in this topic somewhere...

Life is so simple when spouse is a HL enthusiast! There are some drawbacks - like standing elbow to elbow at the store display cases saying "do we have that one?", "oh look at this one", etc. etc. One year ago
today we spent our day off HL shopping - 100 mile radius, store-to-store and eight HL's later.....Today we went to ONE store - the
sign outside said back at 4:00 - l/2 later
no one returned. Probably out to lunch in
more ways than one!

I bought Diane an antique sewing machine for our aniversery. Now she is as addicted to them as I am to Harbour Lights. One benefit is that when she buys a sewing machine, I get to buy another HL with NO complaining.

By the way, I am an HL addict and I'm not about to attend any meeting that will try to cure me.

Hey AB - Think of all the other collectors you would meet. And since they're obviously in need of help, you'd be able to relieve tham of all those horrible early models, at greatly reduced prices of course.

Besides, that's what this web site is. It lets me see what a bunch of sick people collect Harbour Lights. Of course, when you're looking from your end, you see me on as one of those people, but I assure you....... Right! Two thirds of my collection are in a public display case at College of the Redwoods as I type.

George,
I agree with ya. There is nothing like being addicted to HL to find new ways of sneaking them in. Last year I bought about 20 in a three month period. Had to buy a curio cabinet, and now that it is full it is getting rougher... I have had to slow down a lot, and have even switched to buying ornaments, and spyglass LH's.. Still can't get enough.. Talked to B.Y. about the HLA that Saint John mentioned, and I don't think he is too interested in us getting free of our addiction to the lighthouses..

Hi George;

I'm Dale and I'm a Harbour Lights-aholic!

This is an additcing hobby isn't it. After adding 64 pieces in 14 months I've run out of room at my house and started taking them to my office. Trying to find things to sell in order to pay for this habit is the real challange, Need a rototiller?

Anyway good luck with your addiction. As long as HL keeps improving the quality, I'm still going to find a way to buy.

Dale :=P
