There is a lengthy discussion going on in the Fog Signal Building Forum about how to keep the Collector's Forum healthy and whether the Forums are obsolete. Through this discussion Saint John made mention that he is funding the forums without member contributions as we had last year. He felt there might not be 100 members at $25.00 a member that would contribute this year. Last year John and Gary Martin arranged to get a free print from Gary sent to each contributing member. It may be to late for the print from Gary this year, but, maybe the Youngers will contribute a LE or two to be given away in a raffle to contributing members. Maybe nothing will be available. This poll will find out if members are interested in contributing, with or without, a gift. Please vote as you feel, whether pro or con. Also, feel free to make any commments you have on this poll.

If Gary doesn't want to contribute a print, I would be more than happy to have my work on someone's wall...!!! Just let me know!

Just how does one make a contribution? I broached the subject about a year or so ago and and nothing really came of it other than a thank you for the offer. If there was a "fee will" offering system or address set up, I would make contributions just on general principle. There are costs involved for this service and no one individual should have to foot the entire bill even if "HE" wants to. Anyway, I am thankfull for these forums and want them to continue. I learn much and have many opportunities for more that otherwise would slip by for lack of another source to find them. Thanks John for your hard work.

I'm working on the method for making a contribution and receiving a benefit. Look for it in about a week.

I'm sure you will come up with something great, JC! Those kind of momentos are always nice to have to remind us of the bond we all share through the Collector Forums.

John,

I appreciate all your efforts on maintaining the Collector Forums. I have met some wonderful people through this avenue and have greatly increased my knowledge of lighthouses since I began collecting in 1991. Thank You smile Thank You laugh Thank You smile

Haven't posted much or even been able to visit like I use to due to other commitments but like to know it is there when I do have a chance to stop in.

Also John, I design and make miniature cross-stitch lighthouses that I would be happy to contribute if you need incentives. Just let me know how I can help out.

I'm in either way.

If I told Lucinda I spent $25 to support my HL habit, she'll be proud that it is the smallest check for me in a long time...

Of course if she complains... Maybe, I'll just leave her at home and come to the Regional by myself :p Nah, then she'd make me get rid of my boxes and styrofoam....

Thanks for the votes of confidence. Jen Selwa has donated use of one of her fantastic images and I've chosen a sunset picture of Point Cabrillo CA. It will be limited to 100 4x6" prints with each print signed and numbered and matted in an 8x10" black mat.

The first 100 to contribute $25 to support the forums will receive the matted print. Look for the page to make your contributions ready to use next week.

Here's a copy of the beautiful print:

There will also be an opportunity drawing for contributions of either $10 (1 entry) or $25 (3 entries) with some great prizes.

I'm in for the print (I would like to reserve #99 as I got last year) and count on me for $25 towards the drawing. I don't use paypal so as soon as I hear from you, the money order is in the mail or I can send off right now if you give an address.

Just to clarify -- the $25 gets you the PRINT and 3 entries into the drawing. If you want the print, we'll ask for an additional $4 for shipping and packaging.

That's even a better deal then expected. Does that mean if we send an additional $25.00 that we get 6 chances on the drawing or do you want to limit the chances to 3 for just the $25.00 for the print?

You are welcome to purchase increments of the 3 for $25 chances. However, I would ask that you wait a couple of weeks to purchase the additional increments in order to permit all who want to receive the limited edition photographic print a chance to do so.

Last year we did sell all 100 with more active members than now so I don't think there will be any shortage this year.

It's not my goal to collect more funds than are needed than what is necessary to cover the out of pocket expenses related to the CF, so 100 donations of $25 would just about do it.

John, I too will partake in this adventure. Will the prints be ready in time for the St. Augustine event? If so, I can pick mine up there. If not then just mail it!

Also if this number thing doesn't get to be too much a problem, I would like to ask for #61. However any number would be ok.

Thanks,
Stephanie

Those who purchased a print last year should receive an email on Monday from me.

I do have names and print numbers for all but 4 100 prints purchased for 2003. However, there are a few names from last year for which I do not have an email address.

If you purchased last year and don't get an email on Monday, please email me webmaster@lighthousekeepers.com

Used your link and sent it in this morning. Looking forward to another wonderful addition. You may have started something here that will be very interesting for years to come. I think it is a great way for all to help out. Just having the forums is gift enough but that photo is definitely a bonus.
