I have noticed that there are alot of Bobs on these forums. I am kind of taking a census, in which you check whether or not your name is Bob, Robert, etc. Simple!

I've noticed in recent years that there aren't that many Bob's, Rob's, Bobby's, Robby's and Robert's being born any more. When I was in school, it seemed like like every other boy was named some derivative of Robert or James. For the girls there were a lot of Donna's, Diane's, Suzanne's and Amy's. Now days I look at my kids class lists and don't see any of those names. Lots of Jessica's, Amanda's, Matt's and Justin's.

Ten years ago, we thought we were being original naming our daughter Amanda. We had no idea. A few years later we had a birthday party that was attended by no less than FIVE Amanda's! Actually (and strangley) there are three families on my street with a father named Larry and a daughter named Amanda.

My name is not Bob.
But my sister's name is Bobbie (Roberta)
and my dad's name was Bob(Robert)
If I was first instead of my sister I would have been a Bob.

Seagirt, if all the women vote in your poll won't that mess it up, unless they're also named Roberta like Daniel's sister, lol? smile

No Roberts at all in our family, past or present. Unless I count my step grandmother's brother-in-law, and that would be a real stretch! wink

No Bob's here either, but as Larry said we didn't know anyone named Hannah but after we named our daughter Hannah, the lady at work who keeps up on the weddings, births and happy news stuff for the company newspaper told me that our Hannah was the 6th Hannah so far that year (1993) at the company. I think there is only one other Hannah in her grade so it is still a little unique at school.

Wow, seems like there are even more bob's in this world than I thought!

Sue-

Robertas and such are OK too, as long as it isn't TOO far from Bob.

Mark, I.O. has a grand-daughter named Grace. When we heard that name we wondered where in the family that had come from. Like your Hannah it didn't come from a family member. These are old fashioned names which are coming back big time these days, while the common names that many of us have are not currently in vogue. What goes around comes around I guess.

My middle name is Robert as is my son's, first name James which is what we use. The only reason we moved from Texas was so he wouldn't become Jim Bob or JR. wink My daughter's first name is Elizabeth which gives her a lot of range for nicknames. We're currently using Beth.
