I'm a bit perplexed here. I know that at least two people offered photos during the voting process (just not sure who) and i put out a request for photos of Pottowatomie several days ago and I've gotten exactly one reply with an unusable photo.

Please send along a photo or two if you have them and they meet the guidelines for use.

Here's the link to the thread with the info-

http://www.lighthousekeepers.com/forums/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=36;t=000253

If we don't get some responses Dave will have to travel out to the Lighthouse and take a picture. laugh

Thanks,

Dennis

Someone get a hold of Jim Johnston. This is his baby (project) and he should have the honor of using his picture.

I agree with Bob on this, Dennis... Plus JJ with a T has a lot of very nice photos of the lighthouse.. I have seen them on his displays.. A picture from the dedication ceremony at Pottowatomie with a bunch of Wackos in it might even be appropriate...

I would think that someone in this group shot posted by Judy would have such a picture if Jim doesn't..

Rock Island Boat Tour

Sue and I didn't make it to the Ceremony as I had to work and didn't arrive in time for the boat tour over or I would offer you some images..

I will bring up the need for an image of Pottowatomie at our HLC Christmas gathering in Michigan City today... a lot of them went to the ceremony..

I have some taken during the ceremony but thought one without people would be what was wanted?

Mombo,

That's what I thought also.

I have talked to Jim Johnston about using his photo. He told me to use the photo I took from the boat of Pottawatomie on the bluff. I am not sure that photo is good enough. I like Jim's photo. I do have a copy of his photo. He gave me permission to use it on club materials.

Ken and Barb Wardius have also offered to let us use their photo.

Here's an answer to all your questions and comments-

I posted when I started the nominations and voting on the Wacko Badge Project that at the end of the process we would be asking the forum members to provide a photo of the Lighthouse to be used for the Badge.

I think it is preferred that no people be in the photo- but send along ones with people and Dave can decide that also.

This is what was done last year because Dave did not have a photo of Esopus Meadows.

I posted this request after the voting ended and the winner was revealed as I said I would. I also sent a personal e-mail to Jim Johnston asking him to submit some photos he thought would work for this project.

I have not (after sending an e-mail to an address that Paul provided- which got sent back as undeliverable) gottena any response from Jim or anybody else who previously offered pictures of Pottowattomie.

I will be passing all photos submitted along to Dave and he will decide which photo works best with the size and shpe of the Badge and the other parameters of the program he uses to create the Badges.

Please anybody who has a photo that meets the requirements I've listed send it along to me at wackobadge@optonline.net

I have sent another e-mail to Jim Johnston and hopefully I'll get a response to this one.

Paul I hope someone at the Lighthouse today can be helpful in this cause- one way or the other.

Thanks,

Dennis

Dennis,

I'd send you one of mine, but unfortunately it would be an embarassment to you, to the WACKO's, and to me.

Thanks to those who have sent photos so far.

I have a special request- anybody who has a photo from the water that is a close up with a good telephoto lens or one that has an angle on the front of the lighthouse from land would you please send them along.

I know this is asking alot- this is a tough Lighthouse to get a good clear shot of the front of the lighthouse with great detail.

Thanks,

Dennis

But well worth the effort, Dennis. It would be perfect for the Wacko Badge Photo.

Use one with the people after all these are the people that have supported lighthouse restoration in the past and will do so in the future, including this light... It was a very special occasion so honor it with the photo on the badge!!!

This is for a Wacko Badge to raise money for a lighthouse not a photo contest!!

Paul,

I understand your position and the sentiment behind it but I don't agree.

It might be a bit different if it was a group photo posed in front of the Lighthouse , but even then I'd lean towards a photo without people in it.

It's a personal choice but I think on something like this it should be just the Lighthouse by itself.

I believe that I must agree with Dennis. Do any of you remember the picture of all of the WACKOs on the boat? To make somesomething of that magnitude into a badge would make the images of the people totally unrecognizable.

How about a series of pictures of people at the lighthouse framed and posted at the 2005 Reunion? That might solve everyone's problem.

Dennis, did you get a decent water shot? I have a few from the May 04 boat trip and also some aerials from September 03. Let me know if you need them...
