One nice thing about Harbour Lights collectors -- you support others in their efforts to save the lighthouses. Would you like to help us?

Tim Harrison, owner of the Lighthouse Depot in Wells, Me; and editor of its Lighthouse Digest magazine, has made an offer to The New England Harbour Lights Club, to help us get our lighthouse preservation fund started and maintained. For each subscription that we sell to the Lighthouse Digest, he will rebate back to our club $l0 for our fund. We are in the midst of filing for non-profit status, which will allow us to do serious public fund-raising of monies to donate to worthy lighthouse restoration projects in our region. There are many here which really need our and your help. One is Thacher Island, the only remaining twin lights, whose boat ramp was swept away in a storm. A cement ramp is needed, but it will still take thousands more for its construction. Meanwhile finished restorations are starting to deteriorate because volunteers can't get out there to continue working due to no ramp. Some of our club members are interested in volunteering to go out and work on the project. This is just one example of what we would like to donate some of our preservation fund towards.

In case you are not yet familiar with this magazine, it comes out monthly and is filled with interesting articles on lighthouses both in the US and overseas. The calendar of events is especially valuable, as it lists lighthouse tours, trips, festivals etc.going on throughout the U.S. It is a great aid for planning your vacations to see lighthouses, and provides local phone contact numbers.
New England this year is having a very large selection of lighthouse events, cruises etc. if you are looking for a place to travel to.

Thank you for your great help, and Keep the Flame burning in New England.

Great work Barbara! Obviously you and your HL Club have done some serious homework. Thanks to you all for helping restore and maintain the real thing.

I have a question: for those of us who already subscribe, can we renew through you so you get the rebate or is this offer only applicable to new subscriptions?

In response to questions about whether renewals of subscriptions to the Lighthouse Digest will count for our club to get rebate credit: If YOUR NAME is already in their computer as a subscriber, NO, our club will not get credit when you renew. BUT, we were told that if you subscribe for a NEW subscription through our club directly, then YES, we would get a rebate when and if you RENEW through our club directly. Our club thanks you in advance for thinking of our fundraiser when you may decide to try that magazine. It is an excellent way to learn about lighthouse events. Ladylightkeeper
