Those of you that have gotten the Liberty Enlightening the World found a collector's card booklet. This has places for 50 cards. HL states "Look for lighthouse series cards randomly placed in Harbour Lights collectibles commencing January 2000." ..."find, trade, and enjoy.

It looks like HL is now in the trading card business. I can see it now on ebay, "...mint in box, all papers, and Point Judith Light card." Will any one buy a lighthouse juse to get a card they don't have? Good for business! If you have a great dealer they may let you rummage through their stock looking for cards to trade.

Is this new collectible item from HL mentioned any place else except with the SOL?
Can you get a card booklet without having to buy the SOL? What will be the edition size? On and on it goes.

Who has the answers?

Harry

I don't know if it is in all of them, but I got a trading card in my Oak Island. Dennis

The Collectors Album is only found in the Liberty Enlightening the World. It has spaces for 50 cards -- which you can purchase as a set from Harbour Lights for $15.

The plan is to insert a different card in each new release during 2000 for those who enjoy the chase.

The cards are reprints of turn-of-the-century cigarette promotional cards. They are exact reprints of both the front and back of these trading cards.

Thanks Harry for bringing this up. I was wondering the same thing. And Thanks again John for the answers!. It will be fun collecting them but I don't think I'll buy any light just to find a missing card. Since I started autoship with a dealer this year I should get all of them, right? I did get the one in SOL and Oak Island.
My Oak Island had the "Early Method of Coast Signalling" and SoL had the SoL card. Did everyone get the same or are the randomly placed in the boxes?

Dale, I got the same two.

John, thanks for the information. Will HL be providing ordering information for the cards in an upcomming Lighthouse Legacy?

This will give clubs something else to do at meetings. They can have a card swap meet.

Dale I found the same 2 cards in my lighthouse boxes. But I also have the entire deck of 50 just in case someone slips and doesn't include one in the lighthouse box.

Just give 'em a call at 800-365-1219 to order the cigarette trading cards. However, it's not like baseball cards. Everyone gets all the cards at once -- nothing to trade.

[Hmm, maybe I should buy a bunch of sets, shuffle them up and sell them in packs of 5 for $2 each? 50 cards / 5 per pack = 10 packs X $2 = $20. nnnaaahhhh not enough margin in it.]

I got the SOL card quite a while back. I had occasion to call HL for something and along with whatever it was I was looking for they sent me the card. Another nice gesture on HL's part!

Finally got my American Shoal and Ship John Shoal today. Am. Shoal had the Am. Shoal card and SJS had Pigeon Point card.

I think this is a great idea by HL. Just a little bit more history with your lighthouse when you open the box. Not sure I want to paste them in the book though. Can't see both sides of the card that way.

How does everyone else plan to keep them?

Dale, i believe the text on the back of the card is what is printed next to where the card goes. Even so, i don't think i am going to att. mine to the book at this time,Skip

Skip is correct, the text on the back of the card and in the book are the same. I attach mine with transparent photo corners. Looks great and the cards can be easly removed if you want to take a look at the back.

I have picked up about twenty or so of the original tabbacco cards, but they are starting to get expensive. Most are going for about $5-$10. Some are going higher. A complete set in good condition will set you back about $300-$400 or more.

Lonnie.

The photo corners are pressure sensitive, acid free. No licking to attach. The box indicates they are Photo Safe, from Pioneer Photo Albums, style NO PCR-1. Get them at photo shops.

Thanks for the advice Harry. Do all photo shops handle these?

All the photo shops in my area do. You get 250 corners per box.

I got the same two cards- signaling in Oak Island and the A Shoal in the A. Shoal. I walked into a dealer in Cape May , NJ this past Sat. I was initially very excited as they had a sign in the window "EVERYTHING 60% OFF". Unfortunately it included everything except the HL items. I was then pleasantly surprised to find an American Shoal sitting on the shelf. I immediately bought it. The dealer I'm using is not on the autoship. It's #936 and it had the stamp. I figure the worst thing that can happen is that I get "stuck" with two of them. Dennis

I have also gotten the same cards mentioned as everyone else. However, when I purchased Round Island, MS (now and then) the box didn't include a card. Has anyone got a card from that lighthouse? I'm not sure if the card was lost or not included.

I'm told the supply of complete sets of the reprinted Lighthouse Trading Cards from Harbour Lights is running low.

If you're interested in ordering a complete set, I wouldn't dally too long.

I got Oak Island (#1335)and Round Island (#1335)sometime ago. I have two cards that I put away with my other "papers". Don't know which is which but I have "Early Methods of Coast Signalling" and "Delaware Breakwater Light". Will take John's advice and order the cards today.

I think I will take the advice on the clear photo corners and put all the cards that come with the Lighthouses in the book that came with SOL. That will make a very nice informational booklet to set near the lighthouse display.

Thanks for the reply Dale. After reading Harry's reply, sounds like we didn't get the "Delaware Breakwater Light" card.

Ordered my set from HL today as John suggested. No problem.

If we were to get one card with each light it would take several years to get 50 cards. Why are they running low after only three months? Is the program to be short lived?

Got the cart before the horse, I think Harry. They are running low on SETS because they've broken up hundreds of sets in order to insert individual cards in Harbour Lights boxes.

Lorie, I guess I'll have to dig out the Round Island then and now box and see if I missed it somehow. If The Delaware Breakwater card is not there I'll call HL an see if it was supposed to be and let you know what I find out.

I called HL today and they said Round Island did not have a card in it.
