Last weekend, NOAA was forecasting 20-30 mph winds from the WNW and 7-11 foot waves from St Joe to Grand Haven. Needless to say, beingly only about 35 min from St Joe on I-94, I packed the cameras and went -- it was worth the drive!

The photo that follows was shot handheld with a Nikkor 300 mm f4 AF-S lens and a Nikkor TC-14E 1.4X AF-S teleconverter on Fuji Provia 100-F pushed one stop to Iso=200. The camera was in the shutter priority mode at 1/1250th sec at f5.6 (wide open with the teleconverter sandwiched between the lens and camera body.

Needless to say I was pretty pleased. There are more GIF animations coming on my website soon. I'll post a link to the new page as soon as I load it to the web server.

Happy Holidays!
Gary

The new wave animation gallery is up on my website if folks are interested. Here's the URL to that page:

http://66.216.33.125/Storm_animation2.html

Several of the GIF animations on that page are fairly large and will take up to 5 minutes to load on a 56K dial-up connection but if you're patient, I think you'll enjoy seeing them.

All of the shots for the new animations were taken using a combination of one of my Nikon F5's with a Nikkor 300 mm f4 AF-S lens and a Nikkor TC-14E 1.4x AF-S teleconverter. The camera was in the shutter priority mode at 1/1250th of a sec at f 5.6 (wide open with the teleconverter in use). All of the shots were handheld -- tripods don't work well at all in strong buffeting winds -- and the film was Fuji Provia 100F pushed one stop to Iso = 200.

Hope you enjoy these.

Here's another closer shot of the outer light with a gull flying out...

I've added one more 9 frame GIF animation. The URL for the page it's on is:

http://www.coastalbeacons.com/Storm_animation2.html

Click the upper right image when the page loads and it will launch for you.

Hope everyone enjoys these.
