Hello, Randy and I spent 10 days in Washington at the end of June. We had great weather and a wonderful time! Wish we were still there. Before heading for to San Juan Island, we spent a couple of days in Port Townsend. We needed more time to explore this beautiful area. Maybe next time. I did some aerial photography with Goodwin Aviation and flew from Port Townsent all the way to Tatoosh Island to see Cape Flattery. What a beautiful place. Here is an aerial photo of Point Wilson I also photographed New Dungeness from the air. We stopped in Seabeck to visit Al (aka the "Boats") and Diana Clayton. Al built a beautiful lighthouse that he named "Eternal Sea Memorial Lighthouse." That's Randy on the left and the Boats on the right. Point No Point was quite popular. Most people were interested in the beach and not the lighthouse. to be continued...

You always have the most incredible photos Tammy! Especially all the aerial photos you are able to take. I can see why you liked Cape Flattery...it looks like a beautiful place to visit. New Dungeness almost looks like it is in the desert. Although, the grounds look like they are well maintained. I like the driftwood in the shot of Point No Point.

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed them. While in Port Townsend, we stayed at Fort Worden. Point Wilson is located in Fort Worden park. I have several photos of Lime Kiln Lighthouse from previous trips. Therefore, I didn’t take many photos. I had to post one because this is where my passion for lights started. This photo was taken when the whales were on the way. We chartered a boat to see the lighthouse on Patos Island. I wanted to photograph the light with Mount Baker in the background. I photographed this light from the air in 2004. On the way back from seeing the light on Patos, we went by Turn Point Lighthouse. I’ve seen this lighthouse from whale watch cruises. They are renovating the keeper’s house. Finally we got to see Alki Point Lighthouse before heading to the airport on July 1. We had made attempts twice in the past.

If you are interested in seeing more photos from our trip, here's the link: http://home.earthlink.net/~twolfephotos3/Washington%202006/ You'll find: Whales - I photographed a Gray Whale from the air. Plus, I posted a couple of my best breach photos. Birds - I got a couple of nice Bald Eagle photos. Plus, we watched birds we never see in Minnesota (Black Oystercatchers, Rufous hummingbirds, Chestnut-Backed Chickadees). The chickadees were my favorite. Like the black capped chickadees were have here, they were very friendly. Freighters - There was a lot of shipping traffic. I only posted about 10% of the freighters that passed by. San Juan Wildlife - Black-tailed deer, Harbor seal, Sea lion, raccoon, and a river otter. Thanks for looking. Tammy

Really nice work, Tammy!!
Your images support the need for a HL Reunion to be in the Seattle area... people could have plenty to see on both ends of the Reunion also...
Sue and I loved our trip out to the area and we just rushed through seeing just the tip of the iceberg.. We will be going back one day, hopefully sooner rather than later!
Onward to The Land of the Midnight Sun!

Paul, you are right about Seattle; we've been talking about it since Michigan. Hopefully, Dave will make it materialize. If HL doesn't do it, we can make it a Wacko trip!

Tammy - you make my desire to get to Washington state even stronger. Fantastic photography. That one with Mount Baker in the background is gorgeous. Got more? Keep 'em coming.
Wow! I just went and looked at your photo album! It is amazing! That Orca breeching is just outstanding. Are you submitting your photos for publications? You definitely should be.

Your pictures are outstanding Tammy. The faux lighthouse "Eternal Sea Memorial Lighthouse" is very impressive too.

Paul, I agree that Seattle would be a great place. If there is a reunion or other event in Washington, I hope there is enough advance notice. We have to book the vacation rental several months in advance, and I'm not sure we can do 2 trips to Washington in the same year. John, thanks for checking out my gallery. I haven't submitted any whale photos for publication. However, I have submitted lighthouse photos to Lighthouse Digest and some bird photos to Birds and Blooms and have been fortunate to have photos published in both magazines more than once. Actually today I just received an advance copy of the August/September Birds and Blooms magazine because they published two of my photos. That made my day.

Thank you, Fran. Have you ever been to Washington State? I know that Jen went there in the fall. She sent me a beautiful photo, and I've been waiting for her to post some of her photos.
We usually vacation in Washington the last week in June. The weather is usually decent, and the whales are there. Plus the rates are a little cheaper than July. But we're trying to decide whether to go back to Washington at the end of June or to Maine. Our last trip was Maine, but I'd like to photograph the puffins and see some of the lights northeast of Acadia.

I have never been to Washington and also want to do the North of Maine. I also would like to photo puffins. I was told by my husband one trip this year. I took advantage last year (06). Dont know what I am going to do with only one choice. I might have to clone myself.
