I wanted to wait to post these pictures so that everyone had a chance to get their PCE #20 first. John went scuba diving so I went exploring around Belize City.

This lighthouse is in Belize City and is known as the Fort George or the Baron Bliss lighthouse.

Baron Bliss was the 5th Baron of Portugal. He was searching for a place to call home when he dropped an anchor out in the harbor of Belize City on January 14, 1926. Although he never set foot on land, he fell in love with this area and donated all his fortune to the country of Belize when he died 2 months later after he set anchor. At his request, he was entombed in front of the lighthouse which he designed himself prior to his death.

Baron Bliss Day is a national holiday in Belize and is celebrated each year on March 9. We were in Belize on March 12 so the tomb was still decorated from the holiday celebration.
