On Friday afternoon, John and I went back to Duluth to spend the night since we had an early Saturday morning flight home. We went back down to the Canal Park around 4:30pm and watched this big coal barge come in to Duluth harbor. It was 1000' long and the ship was the Olgebay Norton.

This picture is when it is first entering the harbor with the North Breakwater light shown.

This picture is showing both the North and South Breakwater lights.

The ship is going underneath the aerial lift bridge and passing by the South Breakwater Inner light. It was surprising to watch how fast this ship came through the canal considering it's size.

You can view all 3 lights at the same time if you walk up on the side of the bridge.

The arrival seems to have gotten the attention of the people enjoying the park area. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Very unusual to see three lighthouses in such close proximity. Nice images.

That would be a neat new piece for HL to make. All three lights on one piece. Large but neat! eek

I put that on my '05 wish list. I asked for the two outer lights together on one, and the Inner one with the bridge as another.

Hey, there's an idea...Harbour Harbors! Detailed models of all your favourite ports! laugh

Lorie, I must have missed that boat and you guys by 15 minutes. Oh well.
It was great hanging out with you and John again last week. Hopefully we can do it again soon.
Keep those great pictures coming.

Ken
