Larry and I had such a terrific time in the UP, we even got to see a moose and her calf eating as we approached Isle Royale. This pic was cropped and magnified in order to see the moose, which were at quite a distance from the boat.

It was a 1.5 mile hike out to Au Sable Point but it was worth it when we were able to climb the tower.

Getting to spend the night at the Big Bay B&B was another wonderful experience. Larry and I watched the sunset from the top of the lighthouse then went down and took some pics with its beacon shining out into the night.

WOW!!! As anyone who has taken the challenge and driven out to the Crisp Point light knows what an adventure just getting there can be. I was sure we were lost but Larry just kept telling me "we're headed in the right direction". Well we were and it was worth it. Not sure we would go back anytime soon though.

Nice pics KAT. It was a great week wasn't it.

Isn't Crisp Point worth the journey? What a trip.

I hope to get there again soon.

Kat, WONDERFUL shots! I missed the moose...and your shot of Au Sable wanted to make me cry. We tried to get out there on Thursday 7/29 before the cruise and we got swarmed with beach flies. I made it all the way out there on my bike, with my camera slung around my neck, late evening light, the sky was incredible, and I didn't have any memory cards with me, and none in my camera. By then, I was getting so eaten alive, I said screw it! and biked as fast as I could back to our car and we left without one shot. I hadn't been out there in five or six years and I cried all the way out of the park. frown frown frown

Kat, thanks for sharing. Looks like Au Sable has a fairly recent paint job on the tower.

Jen, shame on you! I know I would never make such a boo-boo (unless you count my flight over Little Cumberland Island where the digital's batteries crapped out and I couldn't get to the extra set I had with me....at least I did also have my film camera but it only had half the zoom.)

Kat...you and Larry picked a beautiful place to stay. I loved our visit to Big Bay. smile

Thanks for sharing your pictures. John and I didn't go any further east than Marquette. We still have lots more lighthouses to explore along Lake Superior.

Kat, thank you for sharing your pics and experience you both had. At least you are able to see the moose in your image (even though you blew it up). In my image I point to two brown dots that blend in with the background and say there's the moose. Everyone, of course, says "Oh Really!!". Looking forward to when our paths cross again.

Dave, I had actually grabbed my memory card wallet, and my friend was carrying it because I had no pockets in which to put it. I had gone on ahead of them, and the flies were so bad, they turned back, and I didn't know it until I waited a bit for them and when they didn't show after about 10 minutes, I knew they had gone back to the car to get out of the swarm...
