One of the lights that we have visited the least, yet it is hard to keep out of my "Top 5" of the lights we have visited. This past weekend was planned around a trip to the quiet, isolated, and relaxed community and of course, a visit to the light.

Although the weather was cool and quite windy, we had an almost cloudless day. Here are a couple photos I took of the light.

Which one of the following two photos do you like better?

More later........

Having taken a similar shot of Ocracoke for my photograph album, I like Christina's shot showing that little gem in all its glory. All the pictures are really great, but her shot makes me want to go back to see it again. smile smile smile

Hi guys, welcome to the Forums!!!!

They're all really good, but if I had to pick, I would have to say the third one in yours, Stephen, and Christina's first one with the fence and her night shot are awesome!

Keep 'em coming!

Really nice shots of Ocracoke. When we were there, the wooden walkway was completely under water, thanks to a hurricane.

The wooden walkway is now a raised wooden walkway and makes it more difficult to get the "classic" Ocracoke shot. You can see the shadow of the handrail on the fence in Christina's first photo.

Stephen - nice photos. My only request is that when posting photos, you scale them so the longest dimension is 500 pixels or smaller.

We still have a few people who connect by dial-up and who have their screen resolutions set to 'tiny' so big pictures hold them back.

They're all nice but I do like Christina's shots of the door and the outbuildings. So many times we see the "classic views" of a lighthouse. While these are great it's nice to also see some photos of the rest of the station. Especially nice if it's a lighthouse we haven't been to see in person. Gives one more of a feel for the location. Thanks for posting. smile

Thanks for the kind words about the photos. I'll remember to make the photos smaller in the future.

Very nice photos Stephen & Christina. Thanks for sharing them on the forum. smile

I have seen the "northern" Outer Banks lighthouses, but haven't been any further south than Cape Hatteras. frown One of these days I've got to start on the southern end of NC and work my way north.

Well Folks,

Unfortnately I've never visited any lighthouses south of Baltimore. Maybe the next (after 2005) Reunion will allow me to do so.

Actually, I like Stephen's 3rd picture. It gives Ocracoke an entirely different appearance, with the tree in front and all. You did have a pretty day to visit.

I like number 3- it makes the light look taller!
