For those of you who couldn't be there in the gale force winds, horizontal rain, and cold to enjoy the spectacle of the Mother's Day Gale at South Haven, here's a link to a new gallery page on my website that has a 7 frame animated GIF sequence showing one of the waves hitting the end of the pier at South Haven.

http://www.coastalbeacons.com/Storm_animation4.htm

I hope you enjoy this if you have the time to take a look. It's about 475 Kbytes and will take some time to load if you're on a dial-up connection so please be patient.

Nice sequence of shots, Gary. Those conditions were challenging.

Hi Gary,

Here is Grand Haven on Mother's Day. Man was it brutal out there! I ended up hand-holding this shot with Velvia (40) at 1/125 second on automatic. Don't remember what F-stop. I was getting blown around so hard that I didn't dare shoot below that for fear of blurring the shot. I think it took me three days to blow all the sand out of my camera.

I bumped up the contrast a bit to help with the color.

I think only lighthouse fanatics like us brave conditions like it was out there that day. :p
