Only visited two lighthouses in Wales, so here they are.

Strumbe Head Lighthouse in SW Wales.


South Stack lighthouse in NW Wales.



This light takes 500 steps down to it. At 73, I could have made the 500 steps down,but what goes down most come up, therefore picture take from above the light.

All Out Of Lights, but though you might appreciate the next picture. It is an actual town in Wales with it's name on the railroad station.

Wow Art, have you tried to say that place name?
It is apparently the longest place name in the UK and they claim to have the longest URL in the world

Apparently the word means:
Saint Mary's Church in the hollow of the white hazel near a rapid whirlpool and the Church of St. Tysilio of the red cave.

Wow I thought 310 steps down to point reyes was bad. but 500 I think I would do the same at any age and use the long lens.

Fran,etal, My figure of 500 was off it should be about 400 steps. Either way I was not going down. I did the same thing when I visited Point Reyes.

More lighthouses I've never seen before.

Stan's grandfather was Principle Keeper at South Stack just about the time Stan was born. Stan's Mum visited there a couple of months before she was due Can you imagine descending and then climbing those steps (there are 432 according to Stan's granddad) at about 8 months?
It is no wonder Stan says that he was nearly born on South Stack
