In late December, we were in Ocean City, MD, so one evening I took my new tripod and travelled the 30 blocks north to the Delaware state line at sunset. I got my back as close to someone's mobile home as I could without being in their living room. The sky was turning some nice purples and pinks. These were about 15-20 second exposures at f/11 or f/16 (I don't remember, it's been awhile) In mid-January, hoping to get a full moonrise at Concord Point (never did get it because I failed to check the actual moonrise time...I was an hour early), I did happen to capture this. I think this was about 15 seconds at f/22. Not as good as Gary's stuff, but I'm somewhat proud!

Great pictures Larry! You should be proud of them as they are nice pictures. I keep telling myslef that I'm gooing to get some of those sunset shots, but I've yet to get one. No luck on sunrise either. Bert

Great pictures of Fenwick,They are only open a few days a year, you can walk around the bottom inside but they will not let you up to the top.

These shots are lovely! Makes me wish I lived closer to some of our FL lights as we have some great sunsets during the winter months. Derith

I'd be very proud of those shots Larry, especially the last one. You should try to learn from other photographers without comparing yourself with them too much. I know that's tough when you're talking about photographers like Gary and some of the other people on this forum, but a good image is a good image, and yours are that. Nice work and keep them coming.

Larry, these are nice shots! I like to shoot the sunset on a big hill next to me, we have some beauties, gives me a lot of practice. The only problem, no lighthouse within 180 miles!! I do like to manually overexpose my shots with the lighthouse to keep my silhoutte (sp?) from being too dark, depending on the effect I want. I go 1/2 to 1 stop with slide film. heres next to my house, no lighthouse-----

great shots. I try to get up early (by 5:00 a.m.) so that I can get shots of the sun rising. Too bad that I don't have lighthouses nearby to get the sun rising behind the lighthouse.

Hey, Larry,
Did you happen to notice a slight indentation of a butt mark on that same wall? It was mine. There is just not much room to take pictures at Fenwick. These are much better than mine. The day was very overcast when I was there. Good shots.

Fenwick is my favorite lighthouse sitting on the Mason-Dixon Line. We used to stay at that little motel next door when we lived in Maryland. The residents don't seem to mind driving around you while you're standing in the streets taking pictures. It was always fun to explain to non- lighthouse buffs that you took a picture in Maryland of a Delaware light.

Thanks for all the kind words. The scans and color correction in Photoshop turned out alot better than the actual prints. I was happy to get the Fenwick pictures. We always go down to OC right after Christmas. I had remembered the beautiful winter sunset from last year that I didn't get pictures of, so this time I made sure I was ready, and I wasn't disappointed. The funny thing is, Fenwick has become an "oh, there's the lighthouse" lighthouse, as I've seen it so much and taken pictures from every which angle. (Funny, the same doesn't hold true for Concord Point, which is only 20 minutes away). I guess this just proves that there is always something new to see, so bring your camera. Bob48...isn't Fenwick Island the ONLY lighthouse sitting on the Mason-Dixon Line?

Well..yes, right now!! Which brings up another survey quiz. What's your favorite on the border light, e.g., West Quoddy, Whaleback, New Dungeness, others? Don't quibble about the exact border - middle of the river, etc.
