I just realized (you know, old age and all. . .) that I had not posted the results from the 2003 Wacko badge project. During the year, 160 name badges were sold, about the same number as the 2002 version. The proceeds from the sale of badges have been sent to the Outer Banks Lighthouse Society to be added to their Bodie Island Light fund. Bruce Roberts noted that they will soon be meeting with the NPS, with one of the topics to be where these funds can be best used.

This year's Wacko Badge donation was $950, made possible by your support. Thanks to all of you who purchased a Wacko Badge to support Bodie Island, and who wore them to the many lighthouse events you attend.

Next year's project will be kicking off in the near future so that you can have the up-to-date badge to wear to lighthouse events.

I agree, great job! This was my first badge this year (I joined a little over a year ago), and I will be a future buyer for quite a while. Without them, I wouldn't have met my first forum member, Dennis during the NJ Challenge. Fellow NJLHS volunteers got me out of the lantern room to meet "this guy who has one of those things you have around your neck." I think I then versed them in proper Wacko Vocabulary.

Looking foreward to next year's badge and taping them together so that the badge flips around and shows the blank side without me noticing!

My thanks to you, Dave, also along with the others. I finally became a Wacko and this was my first badge. Looking forward to another one to add to it. And, hopefully will be able to wear it to the Regional in St. Augustine.

Atta Boy Dave! Another Great Job, thanks for your time and effort.
I at first poo pooed the idea BEFORE the Baltimore Reunion but quickly found this Badge to be very valuable tool in identifying fellow Wackos at the Event! (To bad they couldn't id me easily because I had no badge. My Bad!)I soon became a staunch supporter, and recommend all new and veteran Forum members gets their LE badge for 2004 to ID themselves. Most Wackos are drawn like magnets to the Badge to see who you are!
And Bottom Line - the nominated lighthouse is the Big Winner!
