Here is a sample of what I spent three hours tonight at White River lighthouse shooting. I do have a few images with the moon and the lighthouse together I will post tomorrow, but here is a teaser before bed.

How long was that lens, Jen? I'm looking forward to seeing your other pics from your "3 hour tour".

I didn't see the eclipse because that is basically beyond the time of the night when I find it hard to stay awake. I'm one of those "early to bed, early to rise" type of guys. Is that a sign of old age or wisdom?

Bob, that was shot with my 200mm lens and a 1.4x teleconverter and with the digital factor, effectively shot at 448mm. I had to crop it down about 70% off because it was still that small. smile

Bert, I still need your address for your print from Pt. Sur drawing...

Jen,

Consider this man properly and sufficiently teased ...

Please post your "moon over the lighthouse" shots at the earliest ... I can't wait to see them.

Very Old Age

I DID watch the event, but had to take a nap at 6:00pm in order to do it.

Nice to see Jen. It was too cloudy here in Southern Wisconsin.

Very cool. It was too cloudy here, too. It's been cloudy the past 4 nights, and it's raining now.

Armed with our Starbuck's and cameras, we set out to get some photos of the lunar eclipse over Texas. It started out with a few broken clouds, but quickly turned into a very heavy cloud cover. Tom did manage to get a few shots before the clouds completely blocked the view.

Very nice work, Jen & Tom! The clouds obscured our view from Scottsdale.

Tonight was the first time this week that we have been able to see the moon in Madison, Wisconsin. Talk about a gloomy, wet, humid week.

Today was a difficult day. It started out foggy and raining, then turned warm, humid, and misty. The weather prediction was a high of 78 degress today. This was not good in our office building. They already switched over to heating the building, so today we suffered at work with the temperature around 90 degrees and very humid inside. We found every fan we could and turned them on to get some air moving.

Nice photos folks! On Wednesday we had some clouds (one large one really) that the moon sort of passed in and out of. My neighbor and I had a bonfire going down by the river. Since the moon's on the opposite side of the river from me when it rises it's a great place to be. We even had the jack o'lantern lit that I'd carved that morning.

Then it was indoors to watch the ball game with frequent dashes to see the progress of the eclipse. As time went by the cloud broke up and the view was super!

Since the next lunar eclipse isn't supposed to happen for something like 2 1/2 years maybe you should have stayed up for this one Bob. By the time the next one rolls around you'll be really old! laugh

Very nice images Jen & Tom. The eclipse was visible from here (Groton, CT) and MJ and I took a brief look out over the deck during the World Series. Unfortunately I did not try to take photos of it as I didn't want to miss any of the game. After all, I had never seen the Red Sox win the World Series (it had been 86 years since they won their last championship World Series) and I figured there may be more chances to catch a lunar eclipse in the future. Who knows how long it will be before the Red Sox win again.

Thank you both for posting these images for all to enjoy.

Jen,
I really like your photos of the eclipse, especially the one of totality.
