Well there aren't any lighthouses in this neck of the woods that you can photograph at sunrise or sunset so I thought I would just post a South Carolina sunset.

Enjoy,

Sean

Thanks for sharing, Sean. Some very interesting colors. I really like the patterns of the clouds as they streak thru the sky.

Nice picture Sean! Something about sunsets that really get to me.

Very interesting! The sky looks like a "Z". Has Zorro been spotted in South Carolina lately?

Those were my exact thoughts Bob. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks of Zorro when I see a Z. Even if its a beautiful Z in the evening or morning sun.

It was just such a cool sunset. The sun was down for a couple minutes when I snapped this shot. It was reflecting back above the horizon and looked like a fire burning behind the trees. The reflection in the trees to the left are even picking it up. If there had just been a lighthouse around........ smile

A beautiful photo, Sean. Certainly one of the best I've seen of ones you've posted. If this was posted to one of the photographic websites where people can vote, this one would have been up there in the high numbers.

From this thread and another one, it looks like it's okay to occasionally post other than a lighthouse photo. Although there are a number of lighthouses in New England, I don't seem able to meet up with many, if any, New England photographers to photograph with, or at least any who seem to be interested in photographing lighthouses, so most of my Massachusetts photos are of photos of various sights in Boston within 5-10 minutes of where I work in Boston's Bay Bay/ Copley Square area. What has turned out to be more my "specialty" in photographs are reflective building photos. This is one of the John Hancock tower where I was able to get reflections in 4 of JH's panels on the St. James Avenue side of it:

It was a Photo of the Day for more than 1/2 the day at one of the photographic websites.

Great picture Terry,

What program are you using to get your frames, etc. Also I'm sure that you meant the Back Bay/Copley Square area. Boston can be very beautiful. Some very great spots to see, but sometimes very difficult to photograph. You seem to have a great nack at taking photos. Love to your work.

Thanks,

Thanks. A lot of people tell me I have the "eye" for it. I did mean Back Bay - didn't catch that! I use Paint Shop Pro 7 to do my borders and use the eye dropper to pick up a color from the photo for one of the borders. I find it easier to do the borders with this program than with Adobe Photoshop 7. I hadn't known how to fully use the eye dropper until Bill Taylor told me one night over AIM. I also use Photoshop for some features. I've learned a lot from posting my photos to the photographic website, www.photoblink.com, which is where I "met" both Gary and Bill. I've learned a lot from both of them, especially Gary. He is SUCH a sweetheart about sharing his knowledge and expertise! I'm probably making my "big bro" blush again, but LOL - it's all true!!

I also use Paint Shop Pro for my frames and most of my photo work. I have Photoshop 7, but I find Paint Shop more user friendly and I get very good results out of it. And you can't beat the price !!

And I'm also with Terry in that I have learned a lot from Gary, even though I've only shot with him once. Between that day and our online communication, he's been a great help to me. I hope that as I improve I'm able to help someone else and keep the good pictures coming.

Thanks for the information on the program you use Terry. I checked the programs that I have and none of them have good frames. I can tell my daughters what to get me for Christmas now. THANKS!

Bert, you can go to www.jasc.com and download a trial version of PSP, it's fully functional, it just has a splash screen. It'll give you a chance to try it out & see how you like it. I think you'll find it very useful & easy to navigate.
