Okay, is it just me...or anyone else having their avatars do a disapearing act?

This is twice in less than a week. Trying to reset them doesn't work, so I've had to bug John for help.

Are ghosts and goblins at play?

Have you tried refreshing pages when your avatar doesn't show up?

Yes...I have tried refreshing pages. And it does not show up on this page. Larry says he can't see it. You said you can.

I can't see it. I've also tried refreshing the pages to no avail. Gohost and Goblins are definitely at work, but no AVATARS!!!

Your avatar may look blank but if you use the Captain Midnight Secret Decoder Ring you can see it.

I looked at the image address, It shows its at http://www.lighthousing.net/modules/Forums/images/avatars/gallery/bodie.jpg But I can't even get a web site at http://www.lighthousing.net, so I would say the problem is in the image address

Mark...you just solved the mystery! That site has been down all day for maintenance.

Gosh John, we need to get you out of the house more often! Lol! "Brand X", made it's own name and place less than ten days out of the box!

A heck of a lot of folks here made their way over to see what the fuss was about, and are now enjoying both. You'd see a lot of friends there, John.

I think we can all agree that the common ground is about loving and preserving our lighthouses and the heritage that goes with that.

Since the ghost won't let you see the photo at the moment...my avatar is Bodie Island Lighthouse, one very dear to my heart.

Actually, Judy, Bodie kinda looks like it got run over by a steamroller...if this is the same image that you use on LH.N, which is larger, the specs for avatars here are smaller, and thus it is flattening your image so it fits.

Now your signature won't work!!!

Judy, after checking your code (as Mark pointed out).. because my servers were down at lighthousing.net, it wouldn't show you the avatar, obviously.

Signature didn't work as it appeared to have spaces in it, which is a no-no. Judy appears to have fixed that as it is now working again.

One principal of marketing learned many years ago is that something gets noticed quicker/more often when it is a bit cockeyed or off sync. (not how it was worded in the textbooks...but,you get my drift)

Yes my avatar looks like Bodie is a bit flattened. The photo was correct when I first posted it as a new member, but one day, I logged on, and my rectangle had become square. Like I said, ghosts & goblins may be at play in our midst. It is that time of year, and ghosts have been known to lurk around lighthouses.

My big thanks to Ross Tracy who repaired my signature today...I now owe him BEER!!

Yeah...I got stuck in one of those once. I was trying to get out of the TimBukII shopping center in Corolla, and turned right instead of straight. This resulted in me waiting for the 5 people in front of me to get their beer, and then me going to say, "I just made a wrong turn. No beer!" Hind of embarrassing...

Hmm.. I think I'm the reason they don't have those up here in New England.
