On Friday, June 24 I was in the port of Greenock, Scotland. This also happened to be my birthday. When I exited the ship I saw a picture of a lighthouse on a sign advertising FREE tours. I talked with the lady standing there and asked if I would be able to see that lighthouse. She told me I could talk with the bus driver and would be allowed to stop at the lighthouse. Happy day!  Anyway...these are pictures of the Cloch Lighthouse on the Firth of Clyde in Scotland. This lighthouse was built by Thomas Stevenson in 1797. He is the father of the famous writer Robert Louis Stevenson.  This lighthouse is occupied so I couldn't walk around it. I had to take the pictures from the street.

What a great Birthday present! And what a cute light! I've wanted to go ANYWHERE in the UK for FOREVER. I still am trying to convince my parents, especially as my version of going to England has a westbound QE2 transatlantic crossing attached.

That's a cool lighthouse! Were you on a cruise? I spent 3 months in Europe in college, but I wasn't into lighthouses back then. I was near some and regret that I didn't photograph any of them.
Sorry for the delayed response... I haven't been on-line much lately. Trying to catch up.

Thanks for all the birthday greetings. It seems like I am out of town a lot on my birthday but this is the first time I ended up with an unexpected surprise of seeing a new lighthouse. I was on a "girls cruise" with my mom and 2 sisters in Northern Europe. BTW...it's nice to think about being 24 again but then the reality sets in that I have a 24 year old daughter.
