On the fourth day of our trip, we relocated our base of operations from Ellsworth, ME to Rockland, ME.

Our first lighthouse of the day was Fort Point.


Yes, we were allowed to climb this one, but because of conflicting information about the bus's departure, I didn't get to climb it.

We returned to Owl's Head for an opportunity to climb it. That is my friend Marianne inside. Noticing that opening the door to the catwalk effectively blocks it.

Great shots. Sorry you missed out on climbing Fort Point. Did you meet Ranger Terry? He let us climb the light and showed us the old black and white photos he he had.

Regarding Ft.Point -- it needs some work and there is a gentleman that wants to give the town/city enough money with no strings (that I know of) attached and they refuse to take it. Its a shame as it is starting to need a lot of work. This information we came upon when we visited there this past summer.

I saw Fort Point quite a few years ago and it looked very good then. It's sad that they have to detoriate.
