im new hear, and i have a love affair with the montauk lighthouse,probably because i have been fishing there since i was born 17 years ago and see it every weekend in the fall and summer. but i am very intertested in what the light used to look like before erosion, i have seen some pictures of it but i want more. so i was wondering what anyone on this board has that might be of interest to me.

Welcome to the Collector Forums, montauksurffish. I too like the Montauk Light and usually visit that location once a year. I usually dock my boat over at the Montauk Marine Basin but I have also docked at the Yacht Club, Star Island, and Snug Harbor.

How do you do surf fishing by the light? All the fishing I've done was by boat off shore from the light.

Bob, I've seen fishermen on the rocks in front of the lighthouse, and on the beach just north of the light.
