POINT PINOS, PACIFIC GROVE, CALIFORNIA

Thanks go to Mickey Donnon, the head docent at Point Pinos, and to Jerry McCaffery for allowing me access to the grouds of the lighthouse one evening to photograph while I was attending a scientific conference at the Asilomar Conference Center in Pacific Grove, California. Normally the grounds are open from 1-4 PM so it was a special treat for me to be able to shoot with an unobstructed view at sunset.

The first shot below is one of the Fresnel lens taken near sunset with a 300 mm lens.

As the sun began to set, there were some wonderful long shadows and alternating bands of gold light on the long, lush grasses growing on the grounds. I couldn't resist some wide angle shots from a low perspective.

When the sun was finally just above the horizon, the color came up giving me what I so very much wanted to get from this opportunity!

Hope you all enjoy these!

Gary,
I second Derith and Dale's comments. What a great talent you have for capturing light.

I didn't get here during our recent vacation trip to San Francisco, but I did get photos at Point Bonita, Point Montara and Pigeon Point and will post some under the right threads at some point....

I've been working on a project of late, going through my slide files scanning some slides that I haven't scanned previously. One of those that I scanned this weekend was a twilight shot at Pt. Pinos taken last April when I was in California. I thought the wackos here on the forum might enjoy seeing this one along with my other Pt Pinos posts.

I like your Silhouette, Gary! To bad they didn't have the room lights on, so the windows would show up.
