As promised, and somewhat requested, here's the rest of my lighthouse pics (part1); Some others were not good enough due to the camera and or the operator - ie. less experience, poorer quality, etc., etc., that I won't go into here):

Assateague, VA light

Fenwick Island, DE

Hooper Strait, MD

Hatteras, NC at the new location

Cape Lookout, NC

I have a few more I'll post later. As I say, the getting used to taking pics, and the lesser quality cameras, and scratched viewfinder all contributed to the lesser pics that (among other things focused off center and/or cut tops off some other pics, but at least I have the ones that I do. smile

You shots are not as bad as you say. Fenwick is a tough shot no matter who you are and shooting from a rocking boat is no picnic either.

A little experience and editing will go along way. Keep up the good work and keep shooting!

Thanks Joe smile , I eliminated the worst from contention of posting and the Assateague and Cape Lookout are more recent, so better. BTW, if you were in while I edited, I had to rename my files as scan numbers sometimes duplicate, so the Fenwick and Hooper lights have been corrected. wink

Steve, it's always fun to see photos of lights that I haven't been to.

On Fenwick Island, I had a wider shot with the house, but cut a piece of the top off trying to eliminate some of the power lines. frown

Okay, here's three more (two from this year at different angles than what Bert posted), and then I'll post the Cape Cod lights later:

Sullivan's Island (Charleston, SC) light

Hunting Island, SC

Tybee Island, GA

That Sullivan's Island light is a strange looking lighthouse. Looks like the top of it should be at an airport. Again, thanks for sharing your photos!

Steve,

No need to apologize for the quality--just being able to figure out how to upload them gets you some extra points!! We leave on Sunday for a week's stay in Hilton Head, SC. Stan's bringing his clubs, I'm bringing the GPS. He'll get a few days of golf and we'll get a few days of lighthousing and picturetaking in both Georgia and South Carolina. Both of those events will occur, that is, if the weather holds. I'm hoping we can get pictures of Cape Romain, SC and the Savannah Harbor Range Rear (Old Harbor), GA lights. Both Bloody Point Range Front, SC and Hilton Head Range Rear (Leamington), SC are on golf courses so I may be joining him (as a spectator) if he plays those courses.

Okay, as promised, here's the Cape Cod lights we visited in 2000:

Nobska light

Chatham light - with the angle of the sun, the fence that we were on the other side of and the surroundings that I tried to keep out of the picture, I cut it a little close! eek

Gay head on Martha's Vinyard

Nauset light

Highland (Cape Cod) light - I had a closer picture, but thought that this angle from the beach cliffs was a little different.

Wing Neck light on Buzzard's Bay - a little blurry but with the construction going on and being private property, I just pulled over to the first parking space I found and took a quick pic; editing it to bring it closer probably blurred it, if not in itself, at least made it worse.

I hate to have shot the entire wad on this post, but it gives ya'll some of mine to see and look forward to any others we may see in any future trips (whenever that may be). Besides, I'm sure you guys will keep this forum buzzing! wink

I found the perspective of the Cape Hatteras shot to be very interesting. The people in the picture look so small and the lighthouse looks absolutely enormous. Is it really that large in real life?

Steve,

Thank you for sharing your photos with us. You've covered a lot of territory. Which trips would you like to repeat?

Bob, you betcha Hatteras is really that big!

Hmmmmmm, that's a good question...!?! There's so many places that we haven't been, then the places we have, there's plenty we didn't see and/or do. We could probably retire and just travel for the rest of our lives and we MIGHT get to see most everything; of course the lottery would have to fit in there SOMEwhere!! laugh

We've been to part(s) of GA, SC, NC, TN, VA, KY, MD, (of course) DC, DE, NY, PA, OH, WVa, MI, CT, RI, MA, VT, NH, ME, Niagra Falls, Montreal and Toronto, CN and AK (with treks through - other than a basketball game and a trip to a casino in Atlantic City - NJ and IN)...oh, and Grand Bahama Island. See, A LOT of places we haven't been, but before I met my girlfriend, I'd only been to the basketball game in NJ and visited a relative when a kid in SC, then WVa, VA, MD, NC and DC!!

Long story short, we've discussed Maine (when our time wasn't budgeted) and Michigan, but almost all of our trips would be worth repeating...with some new scenery added in to boot!! wink

Thanks for sharing your pictures, Steve. Now I know how Chatham really looks. I was never exactly sure what HL's mistake was.

Steve, I enjoy everyone's photos and now yours. Some just knock your socks off because they are so perfect. It's nice to see a few that have parts chopped off as I have some of those too! wink With all the pictures of lighthouses available these days, I guess the trick is to try and capture a less common view. And it seems that you've achieved that in some of yours. Thanks for your efforts in bringing us these. smile

Yeah, I try not to get the "cookie cutter-type" of shots all the time; sometimes it works, sometimes not.
