M = Marienleuchte (old and new) on the island of Fehmarn in the German Baltic Sea

The old lighthouse was up for sale a while back. Wonder if anyone ever bought it.

And if you look closely you can see Stan and Iris walking down towards the new lighthouse wink

More information about the two lights is on our web page

I wonder if I am allowed to post another picture? I hope so... I have been wanting to post this for ages, but always seem to miss the N.
So here goes:

N is for Nordre Røse Lighthouse in Denmark.

Stan served his apprenteship with Saunders Roe, the flying boat firm at Cowes on the Isle of Wight(UK)and he worked for them most of his life. Even when they became Westlands. They built Hovecraft and so Stan had a chance for this picture of one of the two AP 1-88 Hovercraft, which regularly served a route between Copenhagen in Denmark and Malmö in Sweden ... (and if the A-Z comes round to M again... wink )

So it is the turn of "P" now...? OK...

P is for Pendeen Lighthouse, on the coast of Cornwall, UK

That fog horn must be a huge noise. Despite the overcast weather on the day Stan took this picture, thankfully there was no fog laugh
The picture was taken in 2002 on our honeymoon, when we went --- what else --- lighthousing all over Cornwall smile

The front light stands on the promenade in Theignmouth

Stan managed to climb into the lantern room:

And this is the rear light - right in front of the hotel - just the optic on top of a pole:

I'll try and redeem myself and post an E for Eatons Neck, NY. This lighthouse is located on an active Coast Guard station on Long Island. Thanks to Bob Scroope, we were able to tour the Coast Guard station before the HL Long Island regional event in Sept. 2003.

Cape Nelson Lighthouse

Looking down the center of the stairs.

Looking down over the railing.
I don't like heights but this was worth the climb.
