Made my way out to 14 mile point over last weekend .. wow what a trip.. between the rain and and a smidgon of sun it was a grand trip.
5 mile walk from Four corners through 2 streams ( 1 4 feet deep and 4 foot wide.. almost gave the camera gear a bath.. not a good thing... several beaver ponds and lots of mud..

hard to believe that place is still standing.
she stands proud like a an old castle waiting for the master to come home and offer some TLC

we spent about 45 minutes on site before having to force a retreat back to the car in rain but it was worth it.

several pictures in the gallery and a write up in the lighthouse site with pictures for those interested.

Thank you Dale, for the informational write up for 14 mile point.....

Suzanne Murphy ( wiskeeper) and I spoke with Don Hermanson, one of the present owners, and found him to be very informative and a diligent owner TO A POINT!.
By the way he describes his lighthouse ownership venture, it is an exhausting one!

Thank you for all photos.....very neat!
Pam

Great story and images, Dale! It takes a real lighthouse nut to go through such conditions to see one!! John, try the second link for story.

Nice write-up and pictures Dale. After reading your commentary, I'm sure glad John and I took the airplane aerial tour of the lighthouse. wink

I'm sure I would have bailed out long before the 5 mile hike was over.

A beautiful lighthouse in quite a sad state. Anybody know if there are any restoration plans?

Dale,

What endurance ... what dedication.

Thanks for the tale ... and the results. We who would not make that trek certainly salute you.

Grover
