Here are the last two lighthouse photos.

Sturgeon Bay Lighthouse Ship Canal North Pierhead Light

There was a fishing tournament over the weekend. You can see all of the boats in the canal.

When we got done with the ride, I told the pilot I couldn't believe the hour had gone by so fast! We enjoyed the scenic ride and the opportunity to see the lights from a plane.

Unique perspective, Tammy. Don't get to see these from the air too often. Glad you were able to get your flight after all your cancellations.

Randy and Tammy,

Thanks so much for the wonderful photos. You guys must be pros because the photos are awesome. Was this a special charter or do they do the lighthouse thing on a regular basis?

Thanks so much Tammy for sharing these aerial photos as well as your other "land based" pictures. They are all spectacular. As Dave says it's really great to get another perspective on these lights. It was a real pleasure getting to meet you and Randy! smile

Thanks for posting all your great pictures Tammy. wink It sure is fun to see the different views of the lighthouses we visited this past week.

Too bad we didn't get a chance to connect up. Just a quick hello and good-bye on Monday morning. frown

Thanks everyone for the comments.

I've taken aerial shots on two helicopter tours in Hawaii. (No lighthouse photos though.) Sometimes there are special helicopter tours arranged during events around here. A few months ago when I was looking for possible helicopter tours in Door County, I came across Orions' "Wing Over Door County" web page.

The tour we went on is just the standard one hour tour. It goes up the bay and back down the Lake Michigan side of the peninsula. I think during the lighthouse walk they advertise this as a lighthouse tour. (A forum member posted some information about lighthouse plane tours a while back after we had made our reservation. I checked and the phone number was Orion's.) The pilot knew that I was really interested in photographing Cana Island and circled the island. I don't know if that is part of the standard tour.

I enjoyed the scenic plane ride so much that I asked Randy if he would consider doing one when we go to San Juan Island in Washington in June. They have scenic plane rides that go over the San Juan Islands and Vancouver island.

Lorie, I would have liked to have spent some time talking to you. Sue pointed you out at the dinner on Saturday. We love traveling, and you have traveled to some cool places. Plus, we are scuba divers (newbies) and I thought I read once that your husband was a diver. We had a lot of fun and hope to attend another event in the future.

Tammy...John and I took a seaplane tour out of Victoria, Canada that flew over the San Juan Islands. We loved it! laugh We saw Lime Kiln lighthouse and flew over the orca pods. We were able to see a 40' grey whale outside of Victoria. If you have a chance to take a plane ride, I would highly recommend it.

Another beautiful place to take a plane ride over is the Misty Fjords in Alaska.
