Hello,

This will be the first year since I got serious about lighthousing (and photographing lighthouses) that I haven't added any "new" lights to my list. When we were in Washington in June, I photographed Lime Kiln lighthouse with Mount Rainier in the distant background and had only moderate success in my attempt to get a whale in a photo of Turn Point. But those were not new lights to me.

The only trips that were planned lighthouse shoots were of Split Rock Lighthouse in my home state. Here are some from this fall:

Hunter's Moonrise

We went to the annual lighting at Split Rock...for the 9th year in a row. Every year is a little different. Last year there was so much moisture in the air that it was hard to get a sharp image. But you could sure see the beam over the water. This year we really didn't see the beam until we got up close to the light.



Around 7 pm...just after the light went out.

Thanks for posting Tammy. I always love seeing your beautiful photography work. Every shot is a WOW but I especially like the 4th photo of the reflection of the lighthouse in the water.

John and I have only been to Split Rock once but we always say it is a place we would like to go back again and visit.
