Well, not every day, but it was such a pretty day today and I had a new camera to play with (my GG-Uncle's 35mm Zeiss Ikon Contessa from 1950) so after I dropped Mary off at 8:30am I buzzed up to Little Sable for about an hour to get early morning light, something I haven't done, since it seems like I'm always there at sunset. The lighting in the morning really gives it a different perspective. These were shot on Kodak Supra 100.

I have noticed it in your other photos of this light, but especially in these. Is Big Sable endangered? It looks very close to the lake. It also looks like it is being undermined.

Thanks, guys. Greg, as far as I know, Little Sable is still ok where it is. The water is very shallow quite a ways out in front of the light and the waves don't ever get too large that close to shore. I know the beach erodes but with all the vegetation of the dune grasses and trees, it helps to keep it pretty stable. Lake Michigan is also a bit higher this year than it has been the last couple years.

Tammy, this is a new (old) camera I found when we were cleaning the garage. My GG-Uncle was also a photographer and I knew I had his cameras stashed away but just recently ran across them. The one I had with me on the UP trip was one I picked up off eBay and it's a 6x4.5 medium format folder camera from 1935. I never got around to even getting my negatives developed until about a month ago and with three weddings in the last four weeks, I haven't had much time. Hopefully after these weddings are delivered I will get a little bit of breathing room and get soem more posted. They all turned out pretty nice.

I just had the negs scanned to CD at the time of processing to save me some scanning time and I always tweak their scans in Photoshop (adjusting the histogram levels sliders, selective color to balance certain areas, gaussian blur to remove grain and then unsharp mask to get the "crispiness" back up to par) since they don't color correct anything.
