Our first day of the trip was bus drive from BWI airport to Saco, Maine. We didn't stop for any lighthouses, but I did see two from the bus. The first REAL day of lighthousing started with a stop at the Two Lights of Cape Elizabeth.  This view of the eastern-most tower was taken from the beach.  The western tower taken from the street.  The eastern tower taken from the street.  Portland Head, not the usual view from the south, but from slightly north of the lighthouse.  Ram's Ledge.  The optics inside the tower of Portland Head.  Looking out over the keeper's quarters towards the parking lot and our bus.  Looking down the steps. Difficult to keep one's feet out of the photograph. Continued in Day 1, Part 2.

It looks like it was rather foggy when you were at Portland Head.
