Here are a couple of my shots taken about a week ago in Grand Haven as the small craft warnings kicked in. More importantly, Lake Effect clouds formed mid-way acrossed the lake with some gaps. This created some interesting God Beams. Hopefully you will enjoy these as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Very nice, John, keep 'em coming. I was at South Haven today. Some bigger waves and decent light. Guess we'll find out if I got anything good when I get the slides back at the beginning of the week.

Great shots, John... Sure wish I lived closer to Lake Michigan!

Outstanding images, John. I hope some of the ones Gary and I got at South Haven turn out this well. No God rays, but the waves might have made for some dramatic shots. We'll have to see.

I hope your photos turn out well, can't wait to see those waves crashing. Here is a nightshot from Grand Haven, just recently had it developed.

Hi JWB, ..Thanks for sharing the pics, they're great!

It is amazing how the lake can be so rough, then so calm. It's just like the ocean.

John, I thought the lakes had frozen over when I saw that last picture. Most of those great shots that we see have the waves crashing all over the place. I can imaging you guys avoiding getting wet. Almost like the wave that almost got Bob at Scituate. Once again, Great Photography. Love those pictures, keep them coming and thanks for sharing!

Some of us are either too unlucky (read too dumb) to manage to avoid getting wet on days like that, Bert. The stuff that I posted from St Joe on one of the other threads was predominantly shot after I was soaked by a 9 foor wave!

Gary,

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one thaqt gets caught by those things. I went to Edaville today with my grand-daughter and wife and my grand-daughter wanted to ride the "Dumbo the Elephant" ride. Would you lnow that as soon as we got on the ride and it started moving, that the skies opened up on us. Not a wave, mind you, but none the less we got soaked. The things we do for our children and grand children.

I'm glad it wasn't a nine foot wave though. FOr sure, I won't change places.

I love the God beams, JWB. The night photo is beautiful! Wish I could've been there!

Very good photos, John. Gary was telling me this morning on AIM that you're a good photographer and had started to post here. I got some good ones, too, when Bill Taylor and I were photographing with Gary in Sept. Gary just sent me the instructions on how to post here, so I might post some at some point. Mike, your name sounds familiar from Shuttercity. Am I right?

Hey Terry, Thanks for the nice comments. I enjoy photography and really appreciate being outdoors. Lighthouses give me the best of both worlds. Although I like shooting other things as well, Lighthouses seems to be a subject that really energizes people. Thanks again everyone for the nice comments. Also, can't wait to see your pictures too.

Great Photos! I really like the second one. Are there any pier type lighthouses located in Ohio -(Lake Erie)?

Okay, I decided to post some here, too. These were all from the evening of 9/23 when Gary, Bill Taylor from Sacramento, CA, Mark Cassino from K'zoo (like Gary), and I had some really great light and some great waves.

Then there's ...

and this one

plus

Last but not least, is this one taken from the pier and if not the last one taken that night, pretty close to it. Certainly when there wasn't very much light for either of my Canons to see. The green in it, as you know, is from the green florescent light on the pier that goes on when the catwalk lights go on.

Hope you like them. I've only been doing low light photography since Sept. 2001 when my husband and I first went to MI and we met Gary in person.

Quite right, Terry, I've seen a good part of your work on SC. I'm glad to see we linger in the same circles. Between SC and this board, I'm really learning a lot. Of course, shooting with Gary helps quite a bit too.

That looks close to the St. Joseph lighthouse. Thanks for the pictures. My wife and I enjoyed them.
