Pam and I traveled to the UP and the Keweenaw Peninsula March 16-18, 2006. The Calumet/Eagle Harbor area had just had a 32 inch snowfall on March 13th. Nice images Suzanne, thanks for sharing... I sure wish they would give that pink Marquette Harbor Lighthouse a fresh red coat of paint...

Beautiful pictures. Those snow scenes are magnificent. Really like the second one.

Thanks for posting your great pictures Suzanne. It sure looks cold but the bright blue skies with sunshine make for a beautiful picture taking day.

Boy that snow melted awful quick Suzanne. I was expecting huge drifts but I should know better around the water. Very nice shots, I see a Christmas card in the making. Bob

Fantastic pictures, Suzanne! I sure hate that I am going to miss the WILD cruise. I had really hoped to make that trip but Virginia and Portland keep calling.

Suzanne, I have never been past Whitefish Point in the winter. GORGEOUS!! I'm so jealous. I, too, would love to make the WILD trip, but New England and Portland in the fall are also calling...

Well Bob, the snow had not melted yet. It was just that it was so windy on the Lake Superior shore that the snow seemed to have blown off. Inland there was a lot of snow. Here was the wind off of Lake Superior near Sand Hills Lighthouse. It seemed that Lake Superior was going to swell over that snowy/icy edge. Here is the highway Here is the Snow Gauge. They usually get around 300 inches of snow during a winter season. Here is Pam's van next to the highway snow. Here are some of the houses and their front yards:

Wow!! That is pretty fantastic! It's so great to have forums members share their pictures. Things don't change much for us down here, so I find it fascinating when I get to see pictures of winter up north. Lake Superior looks really pretty.

Awww, come on, Tom! That's all the snow that some of us get. Are you tired of shoveling?

HCS, keep in mind that that most of the snow has melted. They got close to 300 inches of snow this season. The snow fall two weeks ago was 32 inches from one storm. I saw people standing on the snow shoveling down into their driveway.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Definitely a summer place to visit. Awful pretty though in the Winter. I guess if you're visiting, winter's OK too! 300 inches, and probably no snow days for the kids.

That part of the country may not look like the Alps, but it probably gets every bit as much snow as the Alps each year.
