I can't credit the below photo because I don't know who took it. A friend emailed it to me whose son sent it to him. But I thought it was worth posting nonetheless. I'll remove it after a while. Here's what the lighthouse normally looks like. This photo was taken September 21st when Jakers and I were in Oswego.

WOW! At first glance, I thought that was fog -- but it's a STORM.

What a difference! Unbelievable the fury that these lighthouses can withstand. Thanks for sharing them. Bert

I ran that storm picture through an Auto Levels function on PhotoShop and this is what came out: Wonder how it looked in life? Notice how the crib sides are flared outward at the top in Mombo's picture? That is designed to throw those waves back -- looks like it's working.

I imagine that the photographer was Gary and Jen's Southeast Lake Ontario counterpart. It sure wasn't me as I was pretty much tucked away inside that November gale day.
Incidently another tower in Oswego that didn't fare so well that day was a 165', 50,000 pound cell phone tower. The high winds blew it down and it landed on the fire chief's vehicle.
"It was formerly 165 feet high, now it's 165 feet long," said Oswego Deputy Fire Chief Mark McManus said of the tower.
