We went to Port Washington on Saturday. As soon as we arrived it started to rain. We braved the walk out to the end of the north pier.

It didn't look like a long walk out. But when we looked back it was like forever!
The waves started to build just before we headed back. As we we walked back...we could hear the water hitting on top of the breakwater, right behind us.

Here is the view from the base looking up:

Some really pretty wild(?) daisies along the breakwater. The only "ray of sunshine" that I saw all afternoon!

The weather wasn't even inviting for the ducks!

Yes, it rained all day! Temps were in maybe high 50's but windy. I ran into a woman at the Lightstation who said and I quote-"This weather really sucks!" Turns out she had just come from Missouri where the temp was 107.
Friday evening we had low temp of 46!
Looks like summer is fleeting! frown

Thanks for sharing the photos.....

I have been suggesting for years that HLs should do a Society Gift and Society Redemption Piece set based on the Port Washington, WI lights.

Despite the rainy day, Port is a beautiful little town to visit and live. Did you vist the local grocery store chain, Piggly-Wiggly? There use to be a wonderful restaurant, Smith Bros. on the harbor front where you could get a great lake perch fish sandwich, but they are no longer around. The waterfront has changed so much in the past couple years.

Thanks again for the sharing the photos....

I didn't see the Piggly-Wiggly, but I did see Smith Brothers as we rounded the corner going towards the harbor. A volunteer told us about it and I did see people going in...so maybe it is still in business. We plan on going back and being able to spend a little more time, so will have to check it out.
I agree that it is a neat place to visit. I was really impressed with the work that they have done with this lightstation and would also like to see Harbour Lights do a set in the future.

Here is a picture of the light that they are using and displaying at present. We had an awesome guide!!! He has been very involved with the restoration and we learned so much from this wonderful, dedicated and very knowledgeable man!
They will be receiving their replica of the original beehive lens in the first part of September.

The Keeper's Office
In this room they have on display a collection of bulbs from all the different size fresnel lenses.

The summer kitchen.
Another nice thing about this lighthouse is that they have made the first floor accessible to the disabled.
