How about some shots of Fresnel lenses, either in the tower or out? Can be daytime or night shot. State the order lens (1st, 2nd, etc.), type if you know (clamshell, etc.), and what lighthouse it's in or from.

1st order lens in Cape Meares, Oregon.

I just saw this lens in November. It's a beauty!

Makapuu Point, HI...original hyper-radient lens. It is the largest lens in any US lighthouse.

Here's the 1st order lens from Gay Head on Martha's Vineyard. Removed in 1952 it's housed in a replica lantern room on the grounds of the Martha's Vineyard Historical Society Museum in Edgartown.

First Order Lens from Hog Island, now displayed in this very nifty lantern room like display, on the riverwalk just a few blocks from our hotel in Portsmouth. The pictures really don't do it justice, but it is a wonderful display.

Thanks for the clamshell from White Shoal, Paul. I have some film shots of it somewhere, buried in a tote. I was hoping someone would post it.

This picture was taken leaning over rails looking up at the lantern room at St. Simons lighthouse. I believe this is a third order lens.

Those are some truly wonderful photos. It's nice to see that efforts are continually performed to protect these treasures from lighthouse history.

Lowestoft Lighthouse is the last place I got "up close and personal" with a beautiful lens:

I stood for ages (with my old slow camera) to catch the flash of the 4th Order, 250Mm Catadioptric ...

Find out more about the lighthouse at the Trinity House Gallery
