At the end of the day yesterday at Sea Girt, just before I left while the light was nice, I used the "stitch" function of my camera to create a 360 degree panoramic shot from the lantern room.

It is my intention to make a full-size print of this, and donate it to the lighthouse, so that those who do not or cannot climb the tower can still enjoy the view. However, a test-print brought it to a whopping 5'6" x 5"!

I would like to create this print, but I do not know where to get a single-sheet printout of this size on nice paper made. Has anyone ever attempted this before? How much did it cost? Was it hard to do? I need all the help I can get!

Meanwhile, a preview of the photo...sorry it's so small, it gets pretty narrow with the width:height ratio.

Greg, I have some panoramic paper for my Epson 1280 printer, but it's only 8.3" by 23.4"

Cool photo, Greg. I too have had and used that panorama paper by Epson - but you'll need to have an epson printer to use it, I think and I suspect that not all Epsons will be able to use it.

Greg,

I had to stop at Kinko's today and they have this massive machine that they claim can do the job. If there is a Kinko's near where you live, you might stop and ask.

Bobo (I can't help but think of monkeys when I read that)-

I looked on the FedEx Kinkos (UPS had the UPS Store, so FedEx can't be left out!) website, and it seems like it's possible. I have a few locations around here...actually, it may be the same one. I live very close to you. Just noticed that. eek

Greg, that's a very nice idea that you've come up with. Hope you're able to get a workable print made. If it's still kind of small just donate a magnifying glass too. wink

bobo's a neat name, kind of like mombo.... smile My senior cat is Boris, aka Bobo. He's been blind for almost a year now. Not even a magnifying glass will help him. frown We were outside today and he followed me everywhere. Seems that I made enough noise crunching through all the fallen leaves that he was able to stay with me. smile

Mombo,

Maybe I’m genetically related to Boris. I now use a magnifying glass to read the phone book. And I'm also a senior.

Just got off the phone with the local FedEx Kinkos...they figured out that it is about 2.5 square feet. No matter what, there is a $12 scan-in fee. My FedEx Kinkos can't print it there, however, they will send it to one that can. My mom might also get it done at the one around the corner from her office in NYC.

For "Indoor Vinyl" it would cost $6/sf for a total of $27 including the scan in fee. However, I don't really want my photo to be immortalised in vinyl. eek

Photo paper is $12/sf, for a total of $42...much better! I think the thing that will really kill me will be the framing...there is a custom framing store in town that I might have do it...of course, it will cost a small fortune to print...but it's for lighthouses! laugh

Will let you know how this "escapade" goes out....and if anyone has ever printed anything on indoor vinyl, is it nice?
