While in the LEGO store at Tyson's Corner Shopping Center in early December, I overheard a woman say that her eight year-old son wanted to make a Maryland lighthouse out of LEGO elements for a school project. Naturally, I had to ask which Maryland lighthouse, and she said "Solomon's Lump."

That wouldn't be my first choice, but I gave the woman some tips on how to attempt building it.

The idea so intrigued me that I decided to make my own version of Solomon's Lump. I hope you like it.

It looks great, luckily the seas are calm!

So does seeing your Solomon's Lump count towards the 40 + 3 Club? I've seen the real one, just asking for others.. LOL

Being a big Lego fan myself, I think you did a great job !!!

I would suggest a flat blue base. This way you could use blue and white blocks to make the water a little rougher.

I've been in the 40+3 club for several years. Chesapeake light tower was the last one I had to see. (Hmmm, that should be easy in Lego.)

The way the water is designed, I could still add waves using slope pieces and white plates. Although, with the many small islands near Solomon's Lump, I'm not sure how rough the water gets.

I think it looks pretty good. Takes a lot of skill to put them together to make an accurate representation of a light. I'll look forward to your next effort. Maybe Stan will get to designing also . . .

I've been meaning to get around to building a Lego lighthouse for a couple years now.
My niece gave me a bunch of Lego sets for Christmas a few years ago.
Seems while shopping for a gift for me, she thought of the days when she was a kid and I used to build Lego stuff with her brother and her.

What lighthouse will I build? Probably Old Barney if I have enough red and white blocks.

This is only my second lighthouse in Lego. Several years ago I made Seven Foot Knoll in what Lego builders call microscale. I'll have to take a photo of that.

A tall cylindral tower that tapers like Barnegat and Cape May is difficult, but I have seen examples.
